Position Overview


The goal of the Department of Athletics at Cherry Hills Christian School is to provide an environment of competition, cooperation, and teamwork for our students that glorifies God and provides valuable life lessons. Winning the contest is important to any competitor, but the lessons learned in the heat of competition are the most important attributes to be gained from the contest.


The Golf Assistant Coach is committed to honoring Christ by preparing students to live fully for God in a rapidly changing world, knowing they are His masterpieces, uniquely designed for His purpose. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Golf Coach in fostering a Christian-based learning environment that is nurturing, wholesome, and encouraging while helping student-athletes develop their golf skills, character, and love for the game.


Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Golf Coach with planning and conducting practice sessions two days per week.
  • Attend and actively support practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00–5:30 p.m.
  • Assist with supervision of student-athletes during practices and competitions.
  • Provide individual instruction and encouragement to help athletes improve their golf fundamentals, course management, and sportsmanship.
  • Support the Head Coach with distributing and collecting team uniforms and equipment.
  • Help create and maintain a positive, Christ-centered environment for all players.
  • Encourage teamwork, integrity, respect, and good sportsmanship both on and off the golf course.
  • Assist with communication to players and families as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Head Golf Coach and Athletic Director.
  • Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality.
  • Follow procedures established by the Athletic Director.
  • Have a personal and passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and serve as a positive Christian role model for students.
  • Be a dedicated and loyal team member who supports school-wide activities and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to coach and mentor middle school student-athletes.
  • Be a responsible steward of the school's facilities, equipment, and resources.

Position Details


Position Type: Seasonal, Part-time, Non-Exempt

Season: August 24 through the first week in October

Practice Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:00–5:30 p.m.

Location: South Suburban Golf Course / Driving Range

Pay: Stipend – $1,250 - $2,000 (based on experience)

Supervisor: Athletic Director (in collaboration with the Head Golf Coach)



Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ that is evident in both personal and professional life.
  • Must uphold and support the school's mission statement, values, and statement of faith.
  • Previous golf coaching experience and/or competitive golf playing experience preferred.
  • Ability to mentor student-athletes in their Christian faith, athletic development, and life skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to engage positively with student-athletes and their families.
  • Understand and embrace Christian education with a biblical perspective on athletics and competition.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, parents, coaches, and staff.
  • Be personable, energetic, dependable, and approachable.
  • Report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be willing to collaborate with colleagues and coaching staff.
  • Be proficient with basic technology and communication tools.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • High school diploma or higher required.
  • CPR certification required or willingness to obtain certification before the season begins.
  • Must agree to the mission statement, values, and faith statement
