JOB DUTIES
- Under the guidance of a Plant Foreman, performs responsible technical work in the operation and minor maintenance of equipment at the pipe coating processing plant.
- Operates equipment as designed by the manufacturer and perform maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operation within the pipe coating processing plant.
- Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all company safety rules/policies, regulations, company quality standards, and ISO policies.
- Ensure all processed pipe meets and/or exceeds the quality standards as specified by the company's manuals or client's specifications.
- Record and document all required information for the Plant Foreman upon completion of activities.
- Participates in all employee meetings including daily safety/tool box meetings.
- Participate in on-the-job training and any additional training as required.
- Maintain all proper housekeeping standards in assigned work area.
- Other tasks as assigned by Foreman, Plant Shift Supervisor, or Plant Manager
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
PLANT OPERATOR I: Performance of more routine tasks and duties under the supervision of higher level operators and foremen.
PLANT OPERATOR II: Distinguished from the Plant Operator I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned.
PLANT OPERATOR III: Distinguished from the other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed and the complexity of the duties assigned, including performing lead supervisory activities.
EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | SKILLS
- High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred
- Previous equipment operator experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Must be mechanically inclined and prefer prior mechanical experience
- Must be available to work overtime and do shift work as needed
- Ability to comprehend both written and verbal English language
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTS
Environment: Coating processing plant environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, solvents, electrical energy, toxic materials, hazardous chemicals and all types of weather and temperature conditions; work in confined spaces; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces.
Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting; standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and operating motorized equipment.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate equipment.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
