Rehab Technician / Transportation Driver


Stonewall County Hospital District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Rehab Technician/Transportation Driver to join our Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation team. Primary Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to and from therapy appointments, medical appointments, and healthcare services.
  • Utilize CNA skills to assist with patient care, transfers, mobility, ambulation, and positioning.
  • Assist Physical Therapists during rehabilitation and treatment sessions.
  • Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for therapy services.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to patients during therapeutic exercises and functional activities under therapist direction.
  • Assist Speech Therapists during treatment sessions by helping prepare materials, escorting patients, and supporting therapy activities as directed.
  • Reinforce communication, cognitive, and swallowing activities as instructed by licensed Speech Therapy staff.
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout treatment sessions.
  • Encourage patient participation and provide compassionate support during rehabilitation programs.
  • Perform lab runs, courier services, and transportation of specimens, supplies, and medical records.
  • Travel to facilities and clinics in Kent County and Dickens County as needed.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs and required documentation.
  • Ensure vehicles, wheelchairs, and transport equipment are clean, safe, and operational.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  •  Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  •  Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  •  Prior experience in patient transportation or healthcare support preferred
  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  •  Compassionate, dependable, and motivated with a focus on patient care
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients with mobility needs as required
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control procedures in a healthcare setting
  • Strong commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Certification Required
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely assist patients with transfers, mobility, and activities of daily living.
  • Ability to work closely with Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy staff during treatment sessions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, compassionate, and team oriented.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Requirements

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize CNA skills to provide compassionate care and assistance during therapy and treatment sessions.
  • Assist patients with transfers, ambulation, mobility training, therapeutic exercises, and activities under the direction of therapy staff.
  • Support the Physical Therapy Director and Speech Therapist in carrying out patient treatment plans and rehabilitation goals.
  • Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies before and after therapy sessions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy equipment and treatment spaces.
  • Monitor patient safety and report any changes in condition to the appropriate therapy staff.
  • Assist patients with positioning, mobility, and activities of daily living as directed.
  • Provide encouragement and support to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
  • Transport patients safely to and from therapy appointments, medical appointments, hospital services, and approved destinations. 
  • Assist patients entering and exiting vehicles safely and comfortably.
  • Coordinate transportation schedules and patient transportation needs with the Director of Operations.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintain transportation logs.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and maintained according to district standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required.
  • Follow all   HIPAA, infection control, safety, and district policies and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and assisting patients.
  • Ability to push wheelchairs and assist with patient transfers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when appropriate.
  • Ability to safely operate district-owned vehicles.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
