Job Summary

The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting the dentist and dental hygienist in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Chairside Assistance: Assist the dentist and hygienist during procedures, set up treatment rooms, and prepare and maintain dental instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Patient Care & Communication: Show care and concern to help patients feel comfortable, review health histories, monitor patient flow, and provide proper oral hygiene instructions.
  • Clinical Tasks: Update and take radiographs, chart patients, record services rendered and charges, and ensure accurate treatment notes are entered in patient charts.
  • Lab & Technical Work: Take and pour impressions, trim models, make nightguards and whitening trays, fabricate anterior and posterior temporary crowns, and process all incoming/outgoing lab cases.
  • Sterilization & Safety: Oversee cleanliness of treatment rooms according to strict sterilization procedures and OSHA regulations, ensure sterilization logs are documented, and properly sterilize all instruments and handpieces.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate the patient's next treatment appointment or communicate with the front office team before the patient leaves.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dental assisting
  • DAI Certification
  • X-Ray Certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of patient management software
  • Excellent communication, people skills, and reliability

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with Denticon practice management software

Dress Code / Uniform

  • Black scrubs (candidates must provide their own black scrubs initially; black scrubs are provided after 90 days of employment)

 Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:40 AM – 4:30 PM (Huddle at 7:50 AM, Lunch 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM). Some Fridays required, 7:40 AM – 1:30 PM (35–40 hours per week)
