Project Accounting Manager

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Exempt

About Us: PurgeRite, the leader in high-quality mechanical flushing services, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Accounting Manager to help shape our organization as we undergo exciting and rapid growth. This leadership position is mission critical to our existing and future service implementations. We serve all sizes of commercial mechanical companies across the U.S. with end user clients that include many top Fortune 100 companies. Projects include data centers, semiconductor and EV battery manufacturers, universities, health care facilities, and district energy systems.

Position Overview: The Project Accounting Manager owns the financial integrity of our project portfolio — from revenue recognition and month-end close to collections and reconciliations. You'll lead our Project Accountants, partner closely with Contracts, the PMO, and Operations, and keep our percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting clean and audit-ready in NetSuite. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who brings structure to fast-moving, high-volume work and holds accuracy as a baseline, not a goal.

Key Responsibilities:

Team & Process Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the Project Accounting team.

• Own and maintain the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for project accounting.

• Oversee milestone setup in NetSuite (NS) in partnership with Contracts, Project Accounting, and the PMO.

Revenue Recognition & Project Accounting

• Contribute to percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition, pipeline, and roll-off processes.

• Review project costs and lead project revenue and COGS variance analysis.

• Assist in performing roll-off vs. POC variance analysis and monitor pipeline/roll-off trends.

• Maintain the Closed Project Listing.

Billing, AR & Collections

• Review and approve customer invoices and credit memos.

• Approve the conversion of quotes to sales orders.

• Reconcile the AR subledger to the general ledger (GL).

• Oversee cash collections and assess the bad debt allowance.

Month-End Close & Reconciliations

• Manage month-end close (MEC) activities within areas of responsibility.

• Record project cost accruals associated with month-end close.

• Complete project-related balance sheet reconciliations.

• Reconcile projects between NetSuite and Paylocity.

• Serve as a commissioned Notary for company documents (current commission or willingness to obtain).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 10+ years of project or construction accounting experience, including percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.

• 5+ years leading or mentoring an accounting team.

• Strong command of month-end close, AR, and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Hands-on ERP experience; NetSuite familiarity a plus.

• Advanced Excel skills and comfort translating data into clear analysis for leadership.

• Active Texas Notary commission preferred, or willingness to obtain one.

Company Support: The company is committed to providing the necessary resources and training to ensure this person can be successful in learning and enhancing our approach as we move forward.
