JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The Eligibility Analyst determines initial eligibility in assisted housing programs such as Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Affordable Housing, or any other housing program administered by the agency.
Essential functions:
- Schedule, re-schedule, and conduct applicant interviews for eligibility
- Assist applicants in attempting to find appropriate assistance by informing them of the documentary materials necessary to complete applications for appropriate programs and interpret program criteria and objectives
- Assists clients by phone and in person as a result of both scheduled appointments and unscheduled drop-ins
- Receive, review, verify and substantiate a variety of eligibility data received from applicant including income, legal status, social services assistance, and background checks
- Prepare, update, and maintain applicant files and input necessary data to and from East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (EBRPHA’s) database system
- Assist in maintaining the waiting lists in a current status based on information available from applicant
- Notify wait-list applicants as they approach the top of a specific waiting list, with housing prospectively available, and schedule up-dating interviews to acquire current documents and assure that applicant remains eligible for applicable programs
- Assist in purging all waitlists annually for requested and updated information
- Maintains the established minimum eligible families in an applicant ready pool in accordance to established occupancy standards
- Calculates rent by computing applicant income, deductions, and completing required forms
- Assist in conducting orientations sessions with new participants to explain program regulations, lease obligations, quality standards, policies and regulations
- Prepare correspondence and documentation
- Maintain applicant and new client files
- Audits all applicant files and makes final applicant eligibility determination

- Mobility and flexibility to walk, bend, kneel, lift, and reach to perform above duties as stated
Travel required
- Must poses a valid driver’s license

Requirements
Required education and experience
- A minimum of one year of prior experience in property management, housing programs, case management, social services, or tenant relations
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred education and experience
- Case management and intake experience with individuals and families
Salary Description
$19.93 per hour
