Digital Consultants seeks one Junior Network Administrator to provide on-site Local Area Network, system administration, patching, data center, and escalated help desk support to the Naval Medical Leader and Professional Development Command (NMLPDC). The role focuses on configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and monitoring LAN electronics; supporting server and recovery activities; and assisting the Senior Network Administrator in maintaining reliable network operations.
Duties to include:
- Assist the Senior Network Administrator with daily network, server, and data center operations.
- Configure, install, troubleshoot, and monitor Local Area Network electronics and associated connectivity.
- Support maintenance and improvement of network components to help sustain high availability for users and equipment.
- Perform system administration activities under established procedures and senior technical direction.
- Support data recovery activities and help verify restoration of systems and services.
- Install approved software, operating system updates, security patches, and configuration changes.
- Monitor LAN and system performance, identify potential problems, and escalate complex or mission-impacting issues to the Senior Network Administrator.
- Provide help desk support for incidents that cannot be resolved at lower tiers and support both local and remote users.
- Coordinate with Helpdesk Technicians, Mac Engineers, network services, software systems, application teams, and Government personnel to restore service.
- Maintain accurate technical, patching, configuration, inventory, and incident documentation.
- Follow approved cybersecurity, change-management, configuration-management, and customer-service procedures while performing all support activities.
- Working knowledge of Local Area Network electronics, network monitoring, connectivity troubleshooting, and enterprise infrastructure support.
- Experience configuring, installing, troubleshooting, and monitoring network devices and related systems.
- Knowledge of system administration, software installation, patch management, security updates, and data recovery support.
- Ability to resolve escalated help desk issues and provide support to local and remote users.
- Strong analytical, documentation, customer-service, oral communication, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under senior technical direction, prioritize multiple assignments, and coordinate effectively with technical teams and Government personnel.
- Clearance: Active Secret security clearance required.
- Certifications: CompTIA Security+ or an equivalent certification required before accessing the network.
- Education: Associate degree in IT or related discipline; two additional years of relevant experience may substitute.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years Network/System Administration. Cisco switching/routing, Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, patch management, backup/recovery, network monitoring, virtualization, server administration
- Physical Requirements: The candidate must be able to travel to other worksites as required and, with or without reasonable accommodation, sit, stand, use computers and monitors, and perform duties in an office and data center environment for extended periods. The candidate must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion, such as moving computers, monitors, network equipment, peripheral devices, or a case of paper.
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $105,000 – 129,000 depending upon experience.
