McGee Corporation is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Industrial Painter to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing, painting, and maintaining structural steel products, including beams, columns, and fabricated components, while ensuring quality finishes and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
The ideal candidate will have at least one (1) year of industrial or construction painting experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Weekend overtime may be required based on production needs.
Responsibilities
- Paint structural steel products, including beams, columns, and fabricated components, according to company quality standards.
- Ensure all products moving through the steel line receive the required coating in the designated paint booth.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times.
- Clean and maintain paint guns, spray tips, respirators, paint booths, and other painting equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Monitor paint inventory and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.
- Replace paint gun spray tips after every 75–80 gallons of paint sprayed.
- Clean and maintain the steel line paint booth, back paint booth, shot blaster, wood-cutting area, steel loading area, and surrounding work areas daily.
- Clean and change filters on all paint pumps each day.
- Replace protective wall coverings, floor coverings, and paint booth filters as needed to maintain quality and cleanliness.
- Keep conveyor rollers, paddle conveyors, and conveyor chains free of paint buildup and debris.
- Assist with cleaning the shot blaster when needed.
- Assist with cutting boards, loading steel, and securing materials on trailers or in designated loading areas as required.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of industrial or construction painting experience required.
- Experience operating industrial paint spraying equipment preferred.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship, vocational training, or equivalent on-the-job training is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods while painting and performing production duties.
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and maintain balance throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to safely work around industrial painting equipment, conveyors, and manufacturing machinery.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators and other safety equipment.
