Position Type: Full Time, Temporary

Location: Location: US (Remote) or Milpitas, CA (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $38.00 - $43.00 per hour – CA, MD, NY, VA, Washington, D.C.

Salary Range: $32.00 - $37.00 per hour – All other states


This position is open to candidates residing in U.S. states where the organization is currently authorized to employ individuals. Eligible work locations will be confirmed during the hiring process.

Job Summary

The Editorial and Production Specialist supports the standards publication lifecycle by reviewing, preparing, and publishing SEMI Standards and related technical publications. This position helps ensure that Standards Documents are accurate, consistently formatted, aligned with SEMI editorial requirements, and ready for timely publication.

Candidates should demonstrate strong editorial judgment, advanced document-formatting skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple publication assignments in a deadline-driven environment. Success in this role requires working independently, following established procedures, identifying issues proactively, and maintaining accuracy through each stage of the publication process. This position serves as a final quality-control checkpoint for administrative and stylistic compliance before publication.


Working Relationships

This position works closely with Standards staff and internal stakeholders to support accurate, consistent, and timely publication of Standards Documents.


Standards Environment

This role supports a voluntary consensus standards environment in which editorial changes must preserve approved technical intent, committee decisions, and established procedural requirements.


Key Responsibilities

· Develop a thorough understanding of the SEMI Standards Style Manual and custom Microsoft Word® templates.

· Review Standards Documents for compliance with the Style Manual and applicable editorial, formatting, and publication requirements.

· Perform detailed redlining and editing of Standards Documents.

· Prepare final, publication-ready Standards Documents for internal review and release.

· Create, maintain, and archive final publication files in required formats.

· Coordinate publication activities with Standards staff and internal stakeholders.

· Update the SEMI Standards Compilation of Terms.

· Generate and maintain processing queues.

· Provide guidance, training, and support to internal staff and external program members on publication requirements, document formatting, and applicable editorial procedures.

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Publishing, or related field.

· 3+ years of professional experience in technical editing, document production, publishing, or related work. Experience with the U.S. voluntary consensus standards development process is preferred.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including styles, templates, formatting figures and tables, cross-references, and multilevel numbering in complex technical documents.

· Advanced proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro, including watermarking, security controls, and preparation of publication-ready PDF files.

· Strong attention to detail, visual precision, and time-management skills.

· Ability to interpret and apply detailed editorial and formatting requirements under minimal supervision.

· Experience working with standards development organizations, technical publications, consensus processes, regulatory documents, or similar technical content.

· Familiarity with editorial or standards-development guidance such as The Chicago Manual of Style, ANSI Essential Requirements, or comparable technical publishing requirements.


Preferred Qualifications

· Relevant experience working in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.

· Experience collaborating effectively in diverse and inclusive professional environments
