Position Overview

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides skilled physical therapy services under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist. The PTA works closely with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to help residents achieve their highest level of function and independence.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Deliver skilled physical therapy interventions designed to improve mobility, strength, balance, and overall function.
  • Monitor resident response to treatment and communicate observations, progress, and concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Accurately document treatments, progress notes, and other required clinical records.
  • Assist the Physical Therapist with evaluations, assessments, and specialized treatment procedures as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, family members, and other healthcare professionals to support resident outcomes.
  • Maintain therapy equipment and assist with the organization and upkeep of the therapy department.
  • Participate in care conferences, team meetings, and facility in-service programs.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to maintain clinical excellence and professional growth.
  • Adhere to all Vertis Therapy policies and procedures, as well as state, federal, and professional practice standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Current license or eligible for license under statutes in the state of practice.
  • Prefer minimum one (1) year rehabilitation experience in setting serving the same age/type of patient population served by this facility.
  • Prefer active membership in the state and national American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation.
  • Ability to understand and follow the directions of the Physical Therapist and the policies and procedures of Vertis Therapy.
