Requirements

The Fabric Handler is responsible for receiving, moving, and accurately measuring fabric, leather, and other upholstery materials to support production. This role ensures materials are verified, measured, labeled, and prepared for cutting while maintaining inventory accuracy and quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, move, and stage fabric, leather, and materials by hand or with carts 
  • Read and interpret work orders, packing slips, and material specifications 
  • Measure fabric yardage using manual tables or measuring machines and record results accurately 
  • Inspect materials for defects, dye lot consistency, and quality issues during handling and measuring 
  • Label, tag, and organize material rolls with correct yardage, item numbers, and locations 
  • Store materials in an orderly manner to support efficient production flow and proper rotation 
  • Track and update inventory information, reporting shortages or discrepancies as needed 
  • Separate and report non-conforming or damaged materials 
  • Maintain measuring tools and ensure accuracy of equipment 
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe 
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures 
  • Support production needs and meet daily output expectations 
  • Any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • 1–3+ years of experience in textiles, material handling, or manufacturing 
  • Experience measuring fabric or working with yardage preferred 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Basic math, measurement, and computer skills 
  • Ability to manually handle and move materials (up to 50 lbs.)
