General Description:
GMR Protection Resources is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Facility Inspection Specialist to support data center and critical infrastructure audit projects. This role conducts field inspections, asset inventories, and validation activities in active mission-critical environments. The specialist will collect, verify, and document critical infrastructure asset information with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and client service.
This is a temporary, project-based assignment expected to last approximately 90 days in North Dakota. Team members will work on average 20 days a month with regular on-site work at client facilities.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, able to work independently, and experienced in data center or critical facility environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Asset Audits and Data Collection
- Perform physical audits and inventories of data center critical infrastructure assets, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, UPS, generator, switchgear, PDU, RPP, and related facility systems.
- Collect, verify, and document key asset details such as manufacturer, model number, serial number, capacity, location, and operational status.
- Capture asset photographs and supporting documentation using mobile devices, tablets, iPhones, and client-approved data collection software.
- Validation and Reporting:
- Compare field conditions against client databases, facility drawings, asset records, and management systems.
- Identify, document, and report discrepancies, missing assets, and inaccurate records while maintaining a high level of data accuracy.
- Complete assigned project deliverables within established timelines and quality standards.
- Safety, Security, and Client Coordination:
- Follow all client and company safety, security, access control, and operational procedures while working in active mission-critical environments.
- Coordinate with client representatives, facility personnel, and project managers to support successful project execution.
- Maintain professional, positive working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Travel:
- Travel to client locations throughout North Dakota and surrounding areas as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrates integrity, personal accountability, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate documentation, data entry, and asset verification.
- Ability to stay organized, care for assigned equipment, and meet administrative deadlines, including daily timecard and monthly expense reporting.
- Experience performing facility audits, field inspections, asset inventories, infrastructure assessments, or related technical field services.
- Experience working in data centers, mission-critical facilities, telecommunications, utility, industrial, or similar technical environments.
- Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems, including the ability to interpret equipment nameplates, facility layouts, floor plans, and as-built drawings.
- Proficiency with tablets, smartphones, data collection applications, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in active client facility environments.
- Ability to travel regularly and work on-site at client facilities for extended periods.
- Ability to pass required background checks and comply with client security requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, bend, kneel, reach, and access equipment areas or confined spaces as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work 8- to 12-hour days in varying indoor/outdoor facility environments.
- Ability to follow all required safety procedures while working in active facility environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with data center asset collection, asset audits, or asset management validation projects.
- Data center certifications, critical facility training, or experience working in live operational environments where uptime and safety are critical.
- Familiarity with asset management systems, CMMS platforms, or infrastructure documentation tools.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Clean driving and criminal record required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Residence in Texas or North Dakota preferred.
