Description

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Facilities Operation Director, the Parking Attendant supports a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for Ibero staff, program participants, visitors, volunteers, and community members. This position monitors and screen parking lot activity, guides vehicles, greets visitors professionally, observes and reports safety concerns, and follows agency procedures related to campus access and public safety.

  • Reports directly to the Facilities Operations Director.
  • Monitors parking lot entrances, exits, and designated parking areas during assigned shifts.
  • Greet staff, clients, visitors, volunteers, vendors, and community members in a courteous, calm, and professional manner.
  • Directs vehicles to appropriate parking areas and helps maintain safe traffic flow.
  • Supports agency visitor access procedures, including screening and directing individuals to appropriate building entrances when instructed.
  • Observes and reports suspicious activity, safety concerns, emergencies, or policy violations to the designated supervisor or security contact.
  • Documents incidents, unusual activity, or concerns in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Maintains clear access for emergency vehicles, deliveries, staff, and authorized visitors.
  • Provides basic information and directions while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Use de-escalation, respectful communication, and sound judgment when interacting with the public.
  • Communicate with supervisors, reception, facilities, security personnel, and emergency responders as appropriate.
  • Assists with parking coordination during community events, agency activities, or high-traffic periods.
  • Works outdoors and remains visible, attentive, and alert throughout assigned shifts.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and safety briefings as required.
  • Works outside of regularly scheduled hours when necessary and approved.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor or delegates.


Authority:

This position holds a limited to moderate degree of independence within the framework of the agency’s policies and procedures. The individual must exercise sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and initiative when monitoring parking areas, communicating concerns, and supporting a safe and welcoming environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, security, parking operations, facilities, public safety, or community-facing work preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in an urban community setting with diverse individuals and families.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety protocols, and supervisor direction.
  • Ability to prepare basic written incident notes or reports.
  • Upholds confidentiality and respects the dignity and privacy of all individuals served by the agency.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO.


Physical Demands:

The position requires frequent standing and walking for extended periods, outdoor work in varying weather conditions, and occasional bending, reaching, or lifting of up to approximately 25 lbs. The employee must be able to communicate clearly in person and by phone or radio, observe parking lot activity, and respond promptly to supervisor’s direction or safety concerns.
