Position Type: Part Time, Temporary (30 hours per week)
Location: Washington, D.C. 

Salary Range: $18.40 per hour 

This position is open to candidates residing in U.S. states where the organization is currently authorized to employ individuals. Eligible work locations will be confirmed during the hiring process.

THE ROLE:

The Global Public Policy & Advocacy team at SEMI offers a paid fall internship program for current students interested in careers in government policy and advocacy. SEMI is the industry association representing the full semiconductor supply chain. Many of our team members have served in key government positions and offer the industry a sophisticated understanding of the relationship between government and business.
 

Responsibilities
This internship program is housed under the Global Public Policy & Advocacy team where the Policy Intern’s professional development is a top priority. Participants in this internship program may also find an opportunity to gain exposure to other areas of SEMI. Some of the intern responsibilities may include:

• Monitoring trade, tax, CHIPS, workforce, and environment policy developments
• Drafting background research and memos relating to legislative efforts and regulatory policy 
• Shadowing team members for congressional and other stakeholder engagement.

Applicants are encouraged from all academic studies but must be able to demonstrate strong writing skills and an interest in public policy as a future career path. Previous government-related experience is recommended, though not required.
 

This internship is only available in our Washington, DC office and will consist primarily of in-person work. To be eligible for this program, applicants must be:

• Enrolled at least part time in an undergraduate or graduate education program; and
• Available to work 30 hours per week for the duration of the 12-14 week program between mid-September through December.
