Position Summary
The Business Development Executive – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Ecosystem is a senior, hunter-oriented sales role focused on generating and closing new business within the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem.
This individual will lead daily outbound prospecting, develop relationships with Microsoft value-added resellers and systems integrators, and create opportunities involving Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Business Central, and Customer Engagement.
The role will work across direct sales, partner development, solutioning, and commercial leadership to move opportunities from initial outreach through qualification, solution alignment, and close.
This is not a traditional entry-level BDR position focused solely on appointment setting. The successful candidate will bring an established Microsoft ERP network, full-cycle selling experience, and a clear perspective on how to grow a Microsoft Dynamics-focused business.
The role leans toward Fortis processing when it makes sense, but is equally comfortable partnering with other processors (e.g., Elavon, PayPal) to win the SaaS, services, and payment-rail opportunity even when the acquiring relationship sits elsewhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an outbound business development strategy focused on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Business Central, and Customer Engagement customers.
- Identify, prospect, and engage mid-market and enterprise organizations that may benefit from Fortis solutions.
- Own opportunities from initial outreach and qualification through deal progression and close, in partnership with the appropriate sales and solutioning resources.
- Build and maintain productive relationships across the Microsoft VAR, systems integrator, and broader ERP partner ecosystem.
- Generate co-sourced and partner-referred pipeline by identifying opportunities where Fortis and Microsoft ecosystem partners can jointly support customers.
- Build partnering relationships with other payment processors (e.g., Elavon, PayPal) where appropriate, leaning toward Fortis processing when it makes sense while structuring deals so Fortis captures SaaS, services, and ACH/payment-rail revenue even when the acquiring relationship sits with another processor.
- Work closely with partner development, sales, and solutioning teams to advance opportunities originating through VAR and SI relationships.
- Conduct effective discovery conversations to understand customer workflows, ERP environments, business challenges, and purchasing priorities.
- Coordinate internal resources throughout the sales process, including solution evaluation, demonstrations, commercial discussions, and implementation planning.
- Scope, draft, and walk prospects through Statements of Work, translating solution requirements and implementation scope into clear commercial terms the customer can evaluate and sign.
- Maintain accurate opportunity, activity, pipeline, and forecast information within the company’s CRM.
- Provide commercial leadership with consistent visibility into pipeline development, deal progress, obstacles, and recommended next steps.
- Monitor Microsoft Dynamics market developments, partner activity, competitive offerings, and emerging customer needs.
- Contribute a clear point of view on how Fortis can expand its Microsoft Dynamics practice, strengthen partner relationships, and accelerate software-related growth.
Required Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated success selling consulting or implementation services into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Business Central, and Customer Engagement.
- Strong experience selling Microsoft Dynamics or comparable ERP software into mid-market or enterprise organizations.
- Deep, current knowledge of the Microsoft ERP ecosystem, including VARs, systems integrators, software vendors, and partner-led sales motions.
- Established relationships within the Microsoft Dynamics partner community that can be leveraged to accelerate business development.
- Proven experience creating pipeline through direct outbound prospecting, relationship development, and partner-sourced opportunities.
- Full-cycle sales experience, including prospecting, discovery, qualification, opportunity development, commercial negotiation, and closing.
- Ability to create, read, and clearly explain a Statement of Work (SOW) to a prospective customer, including scope, deliverables, timelines, and commercial terms.
- Strong understanding of how Microsoft ERP opportunities are sourced, co-sold, influenced, and advanced through VAR and SI channels.
- Commercial fluency in structuring deals across processing, SaaS, and services revenue streams, including scenarios where a competing processor (e.g., Elavon, PayPal) retains the acquiring relationship.
- Demonstrated hunter mentality and comfort building opportunities rather than relying primarily on inbound leads.
- Ability to develop credibility with business leaders, technology stakeholders, Microsoft partners, and internal solution experts. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
- Collaborative and partner-first approach to selling across sales, partner, product, and solutioning teams.
- Ability to articulate a practical growth strategy for a Microsoft Dynamics-focused software business.
Preferred
- Experience selling software or integrated technology solutions involving ERP workflows.
- Experience developing business through both direct and partner-led sales channels.
- Familiarity with payment technology, financial operations, accounts receivable, order-to-cash, or related ERP-integrated workflows. Experience working in a fast-growing, performance-oriented technology or financial technology organization.
- Existing relationships with Microsoft Dynamics customers, implementation partners, consultants, or independent software vendors.
