Compensation: Salaried, Exempt. $61,380 - $68,203 annually based on credentials, experience, and education.
Schedule: Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Flexible schedule required, including some evenings and weekends as needed. In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency or order, MANNA FoodBank is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all employees may be called upon to perform regular or emergent duties.

Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accounting, reporting, financial stewardship and budgeting support of assigned programs, grants, and operational activities. This role serves as a key financial partner to assigned organizational areas and works collaboratively across departments to support accurate financial reporting, forecasting, inventory accounting, grant compliance, month-end closing and process improvement initiatives.
Success in this role requires strong technical accounting skills, operational curiosity, effective communication, and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful insights for organizational leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop a strong understanding of assigned programs, grants, and operational activities, and serve as the primary Finance contact to support informed financial decision-making in these areas.
· Prepare, review, and post journal entries while maintaining accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
· Support month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliation, financial analysis, and variance explanations.
· Support inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliation, and related financial reporting activities.
· Prepare financial reports for assigned programs and grant-funded activities, review reports with budget owners, and monitor restricted funding to ensure compliance with donor and grantor requirements.
· Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
· Maintain and strengthen internal controls and support annual audit preparation and requests from external auditors.
· Document, maintain, and improve accounting procedures and supporting workpapers to increase efficiency and the value of financial information provided to the organization.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements.
- Experience with account reconciliations and month-end close processes.
- Experience interpreting budgets and explaining financial results.
- Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively and communicate well within a team.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, the mission of MANNA FoodBank.
- Sensitivity and passion related to issues of poverty and hunger relief.
Preferred
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
- Grant accounting and compliance experience.
- Experience supporting budgeting processes.
- Inventory accounting experience.
- Experience with Sage Intacct (or similar ERP systems) and/or inventory management systems such as Primarius.

Working Conditions: Work will be performed in a typical office environment with exposure to local travel in a personal vehicle
Physical Demands: The physical demands required are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
The physical demands of this position are considered medium work. While performing job duties the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and move objects up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities require the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus close visual acuity to perform activities including but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading.
Functions also require the ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Travel: Routine travel may be required within the service area. Current driver’s license required; copy of current auto insurance; and clean MVR required.
