The Role

Session Officials at Crosscourt are more than referees — they’re facilitators of fairness, flow, and energy. You enforce the rules, yes. But you also shape the vibe. You manage egos, control tempo, and know when to let the game breathe.

This is a part-time role with full-court impact — and for our Miami grand opening, it starts before the doors even open.

They Communicate with clarity and confidence — whether they’re explaining a call, welcoming a first-timer, or keeping the run moving. They play team ball with the Experience Team and fellow officials, keeping the whole operation tight. And they carry a Baller Mindset — reliable, coachable, and always looking to make the next session better than the last.

What You’ll Own

Presale Responsibilities

Before Crosscourt Miami opens, Session Officials help build the community and momentum that carries into launch.

Community & Culture

• Be a visible, consistent presence at pre-launch runs, dinners, and community events, not just on shift, but as a recognizable part of the club.

• Build real relationships with early members and prospects, remembering names, following up, making people feel like they’re part of something before it’s official.

• Represent Crosscourt’s voice and standards in every informal interaction, since these moments matter as much as the sessions themselves at this stage.

• Help set the tone and energy that becomes “the Crosscourt sound” at every private run, consistent, recognizable, ours.

Sales & Membership Growth

• Actively support Founding Member recruitment, including speaking knowledgeably about Founding pricing, referral incentives, and what membership includes when asked by prospects at runs or events.

• Identify and flag high-potential prospects to the founder/ops team based on conversations and connections made during sessions.

• Support the referral mechanic firsthand, knowing who invited whom, and help track attendance and passes accurately in partnership with ops.

• Treat every trial player and guest as a warm sales opportunity, not just a session participant, know the ask and be ready to make it.

Early Hire Ownership

• Contribute real feedback on format, pacing, and member experience during the pre-launch run series, you’re helping shape what Crosscourt Miami becomes, not just executing an existing standard.

• Show flexibility and initiative beyond the job description as an early team member, pre-launch means occasionally wearing multiple hats (setup, vendor coordination, content support) alongside officiating.

• Understand and be able to articulate Crosscourt’s brand voice and mission clearly and confidently to anyone who asks, “what is this?”

Event Attendance

• Attend a minimum of one pre-open event that is not a session you’re officiating (showing up to a run as a player doesn’t count) — we’d love to see you at all of them, just showing up to be part of it.

• Help with setup before, and clean up after, any pre-open events you attend.

Open Club Responsibilities

Session Leadership

• Arrive early, greet players, and set the tone before the first whistle.

• Officiate one-hour games using Crosscourt’s house rules and format — with confidence and consistency.

• Manage tempo, keep sessions moving, and handle on-court issues with clarity and control.

• Bring your own energy to the session. Professionalism and personality aren’t mutually exclusive here.

• Uphold standards of play and ensure every run is safe, fair, and competitive.

Member & Guest Experience

• Support trial players and prospects — deliver a first experience worth coming back for.

• Anticipate needs, answer questions, and create space where every player feels welcome on the floor.

• Help uphold the Crosscourt aesthetic and culture from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

Team Culture & Facility Flow

• Stay in communication with the Experience Team on anything that comes up during your shift.

• Collaborate with teammates to keep courts clean, sessions on time, and players clear on format.

• Maintain court presence and energy throughout your shift — between games included.

What You Bring

• 2+ years of experience refereeing basketball — adult leagues a plus.

• The ability to manage different personalities with calm authority. You don’t lose the room.

• Strong communication skills and a court presence that commands respect without demanding it.

• Reliability and consistency — you show up, every time.

• Availability for evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

• Physical readiness to stand, run, squat, and move dynamically on the court; able to lift up to 25 lbs.

• Comfort operating in a pre-launch environment where things are still being built.

What We’re Really Looking For

• Proof that you have 2+ years of officiating experience.

• Charisma and personality to bring members together — you need to be a community facilitator.

• A genuine desire to be part of a Crosscourt team. Most reffing jobs are one-off gigs. This is a company, a brand, and a community unto itself. The independent contractor mentality won’t work at Crosscourt.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience officiating basketball.
• Demonstrated ability to manage varied personalities and maintain authority in high-energy environments.
• Strong verbal communication skills and a professional court presence.
• High reliability with a consistent record of punctuality and dependability.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience officiating adult recreational leagues strongly preferred.
• Comfort creating a welcoming, high-energy environment that reflects the Crosscourt brand and member experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain active for the duration of each shift, including sustained standing and walking.
• Ability to run the floor, change direction quickly, and maintain full court awareness during live play.
• Ability to bend, squat, and move dynamically in response to game action.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 lbs.
