Senior Accountant: For a community development organization (Xiente – Philadelphia, PA): prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; oversee the reconciliation of bank accounts, vendor balances, and general ledger accounts; ensure all reconciliations are completed accurately and in a timely manner; develop, monitor, and maintain departmental and organizational budgets; collaborate with department heads to prepare budget modifications as needed; analyze revenue and expenses, reallocating resources as necessary to meet financial goals; prepare and present monthly budget reports to highlight proposed adjustments and identify anomalies; lead the month-end close process by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations; assist with the preparation of year-end audit schedules and support external auditors as needed; oversee the daily activities of the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions; ensure timely and accurate processing of customer invoices, collections, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements; implement best practices for AR and AP workflows, maintaining strong internal controls; review aging reports and address discrepancies or outstanding items promptly; provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff; support cross-functional projects aimed at process improvement and efficiency; act as a backup for other key financial roles as needed.

Work Location: Philadelphia, PA.

Hours: 40 per week – Monday through Friday.

Requirements

 

Requirements:

1. Bachelor of Science or foreign equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Analysis or a related field.

2. 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of accounting experience. The required experience must include financial statement preparation and month-end close processes. Experience can be gained while pursuing degree.

3. Proficiency in accounting ERP software (such as MRI, Yardi, QuickBooks or similar systems) and Microsoft Excel.

4. Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.

5. Option to work from home on a hybrid schedule is available for 2 days and a minimum of 3 days to work in the office.
