Description

The Assistant Store Manager at Susie’s Campus Store is a student leadership role designed to provide hands-on experience in retail management, merchandising, and entrepreneurship. This position allows students to actively participate in running a campus retail business while developing real-world skills in sales, marketing, and operations. This role is ideal for students seeking immersive learning opportunities connected to coursework in business and fashion marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

  • Assist with daily store operations, including opening/closing, transactions, and customer service
  • Operate Shopify POS system for in-store and mobile (pop-up) sales
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual merchandising standards
  • Support inventory management, restocking, and product organization

Sales & Customer Experience

  • Deliver excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors
  • Actively engage customers and support sales initiatives
  • Assist with promotions, special events, and campus pop-up shops (theater productions, inauguration events, etc.)

Merchandising & Product Development

  • Collaborate on product selection, pricing, and merchandising displays
  • Support development of new merchandise aligned with campus branding and events
  • Work with campus partners such as Screen Queens on custom apparel

Marketing & E-Commerce

  • Assist with social media content and in-store promotions
  • Support Shopify e-commerce operations, including product uploads and order fulfillment
  • Collaborate with classes (e.g., Social Media Marketing, DECA) on campaigns and retail strategy

Leadership & Team Collaboration

  • Serve as a peer leader and role model for other student employees
  • Help train and support new student team members
  • Contribute ideas to improve store performance and customer experience
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled at Stephens College
  • Must be pursuing a degree in Business Administration or Fashion Marketing & Management (or related program)
  • Strong interest in retail, marketing, or entrepreneurship
  • Reliable, professional, and customer-focused
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and special events

  • Basic understanding of retail, sales, or merchandising
  • Interest in social media, branding, or e-commerce

Salary Description
