Lakota Federal, LLC is adding a Junior Environmental Scientist to their team on a Temporary Full Time basis and will require travel for site visits/sampling.  This position could become more permanent full time, but is contingent upon contract awards. The Junior Environmental Scientist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Provide technical support in the areas of environmental site assessment, site investigation, and remediation activities. The selected candidate will work with project teams on a variety of tasks, including completion of field surveys/sampling for all types and sizes of environmental projects to include air quality, hazardous waste, storm water, and site remediation. 

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. 
• Participate in pre-task planning. 
• Understand and practice quality acumen.
• Support consistent quality standards on project delivery.
• Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
• Conducts water, soil and other sampling.
• Sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
• Willingness to stay in small town motels and/or hike with a day pack, water, and equipment in varying terrain.
• Ability to perform fieldwork activities independently and with a team.
• Ability to take clear field notes.

Minimum Candidate Requirements

Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in a natural science (enviromental science, geology, biology etc.).

Candidate must have a 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.

Candidate must be willing to make frequent overnight travel to field locations (25-50%)

Candidate must have a valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Candidate must have at least 1+ years of experience in the following:

• Experience sampling different media (surface water, groundwater, air, soil, sediment, etc.).
• Experience with different types of groundwater pumps and types of sampling (submersible, bladder, peristaltic pumps) and sampling using either low flow versus 3 bore volumes before sample collection.
• Experience with common drilling technologies (direct push, rotary (including mud and air rotary), sonic, etc.).
• Knowledge of common analytical methods (VOCs 8260, SVCOs 8270, Total Metals 6010, Dissolved Metals 200.7, Dissolved Metals 200.8, etc).
• Willingness to travel 25-50% of the time
