Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Infection Control

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in implementing and monitoring infection control policies and procedures across the facility

- Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards

- Educate staff, patients, and visitors on infection control practices and protocols

- Collect and analyze data related to infection rates and report findings to the infection control team

- Support outbreak investigations and participate in infection prevention initiatives

- Maintain accurate documentation of infection control activities and incidents

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and update infection control strategies


Skills and Qualifications:

- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing

- Prior experience in infection control, healthcare, or related field preferred

- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards and best practices

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports

- Attention to detail and high level of organizational skills

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and protocols

Requirements

Required/Desired Qualifications:

Education, Training, and Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, or related field strongly preferred.

- Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.

- Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse & CPR Certification

- Five years of experience as an LPN; one year of experience in an infection control position strongly preferred. 

- Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.

- Knowledge of federal and state infection control regulations.


Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:

- Ability to work with people with physical and mental disabilities, including those using profanity, derogatory language and the like. 

- Specialty training in Infection Prevention and Control through accredited continuing education

- Must be nationally certified in Infection Prevention and Control by NADONA (IP-BC Credential) or completed APIC EPI Intensive Training for Long Term Care, or Certified in Infection Control through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC).

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Other Special Requirements:

  •  Tolerate potential exposure to blood, body tissues, and fluids with occasional exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases.
  •  Manual dexterity required to operate modern office equipment. 
  •  Ability to travel as needed or assigned.
