Role Overview
The Operations Specialist contributes to the operational goals of the company by assisting in developing and executing operational plans/processes, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, and ensuring branches operate in the most efficient and effective process. This role will oversee operational efficiency for branches and will require travel.
Responsibilities
- Provides general operational support by identifying, standardizing, and implementing best practices for all branches. This may include operational training as needs arise.
- Identify inefficiencies in current warehouse operational processes to maximize productivity.
- May assist with the planning, operations and inventories of new acquisitions or moves.
- Conduct operational audits for branch, warehouse, and safety.
- Manages the company’s fleet program to ensure the company’s fleet is safe and operational. This includes reviewing and approving new purchases, sales, and transfers of fleet, managing the company’s fleet management program (ARI) and billing.
- Manages the company’s fuel card program by evaluating use, managing the fuel card vendor, and maintaining users in the system.
- Administers various transportation systems to ensure DOT compliance and efficiency, such as Elog, GPS system, and IFTA filings.
- Responsible for reviewing and reconciling 3rd party freight bills.
- Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting the company’s operational expenses, such as auto fuel, building, auto maintenance, equipment rental, etc.
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information; may work with I.T. to automate new and existing reports.
- Leads branch specific year end audited physical inventories.
- Provides coaching and feedback to associates who are involved in the operational processes.
- While not primary contact for quality control or safety related issues, may participate in these matters and lead field investigations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned or required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified in [relevant certification or accreditation].
- 3+ years of experience in the distribution, wholesale, or manufacturing industries.
- Computer literate; Proficient with MS Office 365.
- Expert-level interpretation and assessment of ERP and operational data.
- Ability to effectively communicate [written and verbal].
- Thrives in a collaborative team environment.
- A detail-oriented work style, comfortable with multiple priorities being juggled while maintaining a consistent work approach.
- Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Travel as needed.
- Ability to pass a background check, MVR check, and drug test.
