SMG seeks a Safety Advisor - General Industry - in Aiken, South Carolina. Per diem is avaialble for this role. 

The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client's needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible when it comes to change. This person will be responsible for implementing contractor safety management.



Overview of Job Responsibilities:

  • Update all relevant safety policies and legal requirements
  • Site safety observations, implement corrective action measures, including documentation of findings
  • Track HSE performance metrics, develop systems for monitoring incidents and near misses, and identify key performance indicators to drive accountability
  • Deliver clear and effective presentations to engage teams
  • Assist with any Environmental safety concerns, RCRA, SPCC, SWPPP
  • Actively participate in pre-bid, pre-construction, progress, owner, event review, safety teams, daily coordination, stand-down's, and other HSE related requests
  • Facilitates corrective measures were warranted
  • Represents the contractor or Owner in progress meetings
  • Verifies compliance with safety policies and procedures as required by law, the Owner or contractor
  • Provides incident management and support
  • Interact with craftspeople and promote a safe working culture
  • Documentation and Report preparation
  • Conducts Contractor program review


Requirements
  • Five plus years of previous General Industry/Environmental Safety experience
  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related fields preferred
  • BCSP Certifications is a plus: CSP, GSP, ASP
  • Deep understanding of OSHA related rules & regulations
  • Ability to prepare and complete audits
  • Demonstrated Safety Leadership
  • Ability to engage professionally with clients and contractors

Physical Demands of the job may include:

  • Moving about long distances
  • Ascending/Descending stairs and ladders
  • Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period
  • Working in extreme weather
  • Being exposed to loud noises
  • Wearing personal protective gear correctly
