As an Insurance Verification Specialist, you'll play an important role in helping patients understand their insurance coverage and ensuring our clinical teams have the information they need before services are provided. You'll work closely with patients, insurance companies, providers, and internal teams to verify benefits, identify insurance requirements, and help create a smooth experience from scheduling through care.

What You'll Do

As a member of our team, you will:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage by contacting insurance companies via phone, online portals, or other means.
  • Obtain and record accurate insurance information, including policy numbers, coverage details, and authorization requirements.
  • Communicating with patients to gather necessary insurance information and clarify coverage details.
  • Reviewing insurance policies and benefit information to determine coverage levels for specific medical procedures or services.
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers, billing departments, and insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to insurance coverage.
  • Providing assistance to patients regarding insurance questions, coverage limitations, and payment options.
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate records of insurance verification activities and patient interactions.
  • Staying updated on changes in insurance regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assisting with other administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Two or more years of experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, insurance verification, patient access, or a related healthcare setting
  • Experience working with insurance companies or payer portals
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with insurance eligibility, benefits, or authorization
