Facility Grounds Maintenance Technician
Description

 The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for hands-on preventive maintenance, building systems, grounds, and production support equipment. The position supports safe, reliable operations by responding to facility maintenance requests coordinating routine facility needs. This role works closely with maintenance leadership to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, and keep the property safe, functional, organized, and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance

· Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment according to established schedules.

· Assist with equipment installation, relocation, upgrades, and commissioning.

· Respond promptly to facility yard maintenance

Facility, Building & Property Maintenance

· Maintain facility infrastructure, including lighting and general building systems.

· Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and facility systems; identify and complete corrective actions before problems affect operations.

· Perform basic general facility repairs as required.

· Maintain exterior property and grounds, including routine upkeep, cleanup, and identification of repair or safety needs.

· Support fire protection, life safety, and other facility systems by assisting with inspections, maintenance, and required corrective actions.

· Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance work areas and facility spaces.

Material Handling & Support Equipment

· Assist in maintaining forklifts and other powered industrial or support equipment.

· Support inspections and repairs in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer recommendations.

· Monitor maintenance supplies, communicate replenishment needs to leadership.

Maintenance Planning, Documentation & Vendor Support

· Complete assigned facility maintenance and work orders accurately and on schedule.

· Document completed work, equipment history, inspections, and repairs in the maintenance management system or maintenance logs.

· Report recurring equipment facility failures and recommend improvements to increase reliability and reduce reactive work.

· Coordinate with production to complete maintenance during appropriate maintenance windows and minimize production downtime.

· Support facility expansions, renovations, and equipment installation projects as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

· Follow all company safety policies and applicable lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, electrical safety, and PPE requirements.

· Perform work in accordance with OSHA requirements, applicable building and environmental regulations, and company safety standards.

  

· Identify unsafe conditions, facility hazards, and property concerns and report or correct them promptly within the scope of the position.

· Use tools, lifts, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely and according to established procedures.

Continuous Improvement

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing downtime and improving equipment and facility reliability.

· Recommend practical facility maintenance process improvements and proactive corrective actions.

· Support production teams by providing technical and facility assistance when needed.


Requirements

  

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent is required.

· Minimum of 3 years of industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance experience preferred.

· Technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field preferred.

· Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and general building systems.

· Basic knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment preferred.

· Experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment.

· Basic computer skills for documenting maintenance activities and work orders.

· Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

· Ability to prioritize equipment, facility, and property maintenance needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills

· Forklift, aerial lift, and crane maintenance or operation experience.

· Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

· General building, grounds, and property maintenance experience.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements

· Frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work throughout the manufacturing facility and property.

· Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

· Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms and access confined spaces as required.

· Work around moving machinery and production equipment.

· Work outdoors and in non-climate-controlled areas with exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions.

· Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Work overtime and respond to emergency maintenance needs as required.
