Audiology Secretary

The Audiology Secretary is a customer service expert with excellent attention to detail. This position is responsible for providing support to the audiologists in performing routine tasks that do not require the training of a licensed audiologist.  


We are excited to offer flexible work arrangements for this role and this position can be hybrid in either our Albany or Saratoga Spring offices. Training will be completed in-person on-site in Albany before transitioning to a hybrid arrangement.  


Duties & Responsibilities:


Communication

  • Conducts verbal and written communication with patients via the patient portal, SEngage portal, telephone, and in-person with professionalism and respect.
  • Assists patients with concerns or feedback, directing patients to the Patient Feedback Form or supervisor as appropriate.
  • Schedules various specialty appointments with the audiologist or hearing instrument specialist, and coordinates physician and physician assistant appointments as appropriate.
  • Responds to walk-in patient needs presented by the administrative staff, assists with on-site staff to address needs as they arise.
  • Contacts and responds appropriately to internal and external customers on behalf of patients and clinical staff, via telephone, email, or web-based vendor portals, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educates patients on insurance benefits and hearing aid procurement process.
  • Works collaboratively with the pool to ensure the completion of all tasks and response to all voicemails within 24-48 hours.
  • Ensures all outside testing orders are received and appropriately documented prior to the start of the appointment time.

Recordkeeping

  • Documents all patient and pertinent patient-related communications in the electronic medical record.
  • Collects payments from patients, as appropriate.

Teamwork

  • May participate as a backup for assisting in play-based audiometry for children and patients with additional testing needs, when in the office.
  • May serve as a backup for assisting with sterilizing and cleaning clinic equipment and motivational toys used in play-based audiometry, in accordance with OSHA and department directives, when in the office.
Requirements

The compensation range for this position is $18.00 to $21.00 per hour. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, education, experience, and qualifications.
