Capital Management, Inc. (CMI) is seeking an experienced and strategic Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our corporate office and to grow hotel portfolio. This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, overseeing treasury management, and supporting executive decision-making across multiple hospitality assets.

What You'll Do

Financial Leadership & Business Strategy

  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to executive leadership and hotel operations teams.
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and financial initiatives.
  • Analyze business performance and provide recommendations that improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that support organizational growth.

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the integrity of all general ledger accounts.
  • Consolidate financial results across multiple entities and operating divisions.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages for executive leadership, ownership groups, lenders, and investors.
  • Continuously improve accounting workflows and reporting systems.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance professionals across the organization.
  • Establish performance expectations and support employee growth and development.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and succession planning initiatives.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
  • Review and approve disbursements, wire transfers, and treasury activities.
  • Monitor working capital and cash positions across multiple entities.
  • Support  lender reporting, financing activities, and covenant compliance.

Compliance, Audit & Risk Management

  • Coordinate annual audits and tax reporting activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Oversee sales tax, occupancy tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory reporting requirements.

Hospitality Portfolio Support

  • Partner with General Managers and Operations Leadership to drive financial accountability across the portfolio.
  • Review hotel financial performance, labor metrics, and operational results.
  • Support acquisitions, transitions, new openings, and ownership reporting  requirements.
  • Ensure  consistency in accounting standards and financial reporting across all managed properties.

  

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ ears of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.
  • Multi-entity accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and audit processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial systems experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.

Preferred

  • CPA  designation.
  • Hospitality,  hotel management, real estate, or property management experience.
  • Experience  with Marriott operating environments.
  • Experience with ProfitSword, Sage, Plate IQ (Ottimate), FOSSE, or Lightspeed.

Work Environment

  • Full-Time, Exempt Position
  • Primarily Monday–Friday schedule
  • In-person  role based in Kansas City, Missouri
  • Occasional  travel to portfolio properties may be required
