Description

Summary

The Corporate Accounting Manager serves as the operational leader for the Company's corporate accounting functions across all regional offices. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving consistency across the organization.

Working closely with the Controller, the Corporate Accounting Manager oversees corporate accounting activities, including brokerage accounting, oversight of property management and construction accounting, segment reporting, corporate accounts payable, accounts receivable billing and collections, payroll-related accounting, intercompany allocations, and billback processes. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Company's continued growth by establishing scalable processes, promoting financial discipline, and delivering timely, accurate financial information to leadership.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Corporate Accounting Oversight

· Coordinate accounting activities across all regional offices. 

· Ensure consistency in accounting policies, procedures and reporting practices across the organization. 

· Serve as a key accounting resource and business partner to regional leadership teams. 

· Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, standardization, and reporting accuracy. 

· Oversee corporate accounting functions, including brokerage accounting and oversight of property management and construction accounting activities. 

· Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
· Manages cash flow for operating companies ensuring designated cash balances are intact.


Brokerage Accounting 

· Coordinate with Brokerage Coordinators to obtain and review all required transaction documentation, including executed agreements, listing agreements, third-party agreements or invoices, and internal commission invoices. 

· Review, process, and upload commission invoices, ensuring accurate deal information, commission calculations, and broker production percentages and splits. 

· Record commission billings and broker splits within the accounting system to ensure accurate revenue recognition and payable tracking. 

· Distribute commission invoices and supporting documentation to brokers and other payees in a timely manner. 

· Maintain and reconcile brokerage production and commission reporting, including Sales Summary schedules and payroll support documentation. 

· Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of broker commission payments. 

· Monitor brokerage transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.


Accounts Payable & Segment Reporting 

· Oversee corporate accounts payable operations, ensuring timely processing and payment of obligations. 

· Ensure proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies and internal controls. 

· Lead segment accounting and departmental financial reporting activities. 

· Prepare financial results by business line, region, and department.

· Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis efforts as needed.


Payroll Accounting 

· Partner with Human Resources and Payroll to ensure accurate accounting treatment of payroll-related transactions. 

· Reconcile payroll activity to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies. 

· Ensure payroll allocations, benefit billbacks, management fees, and shared service allocations are processed accurately and timely. 

· Analyze payroll costs across departments, entities, and regions to support accurate financial reporting. 

· Identify and resolve discrepancies between payroll records and accounting records.


Team Leadership & Process Improvement

· Provide leadership, guidance, training, and mentorship to accounting team members. 

· Assist in establishing departmental goals, priorities, and performance expectations. 

· Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer service. 

· Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating practices. 

· Drive process improvement initiatives through automation, workflow optimization, and standardization. 

· Support the implementation of new systems, controls, and reporting tools to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive      accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership      or supervisory accounting role.
  • Multi-entity and multi-location      accounting experience preferred.
  • Real estate, property management,      brokerage, or professional services industry experience strongly      preferred.
  • Experience with acquisitions and      integration activities preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and      financial reporting requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft      Excel.
  • Experience with Yardi or similar      real estate accounting platforms preferred.
  • Ability to analyze complex      accounting transactions and operational workflows.
