Description
NOTE: This opportunity is open to full-time W2 employment (no third party, please). The candidate MUST be a U.S. Citizen, local to the DC Capital region, and available to be on-site full-time in Washington DC.
Daily Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance in analyzing and evaluating data protection policies and success rates.
- Provide daily management of production Commvault systems including windows media agents; Commvault Hyperscale Appliances; Private Metrics Server; Client package creation; and cloud, NetApp, PURE, and hyperscaler data targets.
- Provide daily support of customer requests for recovery efforts to include but not limited to: Exchange, Windows file systems, Unix files systems, Oracle databases, and SQL databases.
- Provide assistance in planning, designing, and evaluating hardware and software recommendations to enhance and improve the Enterprise Data Protection & Recovery System as a whole.
- Create and update standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
- Ability to work shifts to provide support 24/7.
- Ability to travel to multiple data centers for work on an as needed basis.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (no dual status), as mandated by our government client.
- Must be able to complete/pass/hold at minimum a Federal Public Trust Investigation.
- This position is full-time on-site in Washington DC. It requires the candidate to work shifts to provide 24/7 support, participate in an on-call rotation and be available on-demand to address technical problems and support weekend maintenance activities.
- 9+ years professional IT experience.
- 6+ years of experience with data protection systems.
- Experience in the implementation and management of enterprise data protection and recovery systems.
- Experience with a combination of PURE Snapshots, Oracle Cloud, AWS S3 & EC2, GCP, Commvault Metallic, and/or Microsoft cloud (Azure, O365, Teams, SharePoint).
- Expert in evaluation, implementation, and management of production Commvault data protection software, as well as Commvault Hyperscale, AWS, PURE FlashArray and FlashBlade, and NetApp data protection targets.
- Relevant operating systems security (Windows, ESX, Solaris, Linux, etc.).
- Knowledge of hybrid, private, and public clouds.
- Must have an understanding of the following:
- VMware ESX; vSphere; vCenter
- Cloud technologies (backup and target)
- IT security and encryption technologies
- Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies
- Block and object storage
- BCDR procedures
- DFS
- Converged infrastructure technologies
- Data center layout and designs
- Active/Active configurations
- Kubernetes and containers
- Ability to communicate technical topics to elected officials, senior executives, managers, and IT professionals in a manner appropriate to their knowledge level.
- Ability to comprehend and integrate complex computer technology and software into an effective enterprise data protection and recovery strategy.
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, users, contractors, and vendors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with network and operating systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent years of experience.

- NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional

Salary Description
130,000 - 140,000
