Position Summary
The Claims Coordinator is responsible for supporting the administration, coordination, and documentation of company claims, including workers’ compensation, automobile, and property damage claims. This position works closely with Human Resources, Safety, insurance carriers, adjusters, managers, and other internal stakeholders to ensure claims are handled accurately, timely, and in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and assist with the handling of workers’ compensation claims, automobile claims, and property damage claims.
- Communicate with insurance adjusters, claims representatives, internal managers, Human Resources, Safety, and other stakeholders regarding claim status, documentation, and required follow-up.
- Schedule post-accident alcohol and drug screenings in accordance with company policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate claim files, records, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor claim activity and assist with timely follow-up to support appropriate claim resolution.
- Support coordination of insurance coverage information, claim reporting requirements, and related documentation.
- Work closely with Human Resources and Safety to ensure proper communication, documentation, and compliance with internal processes.
- Prepare, track, and report claims-related metrics, key performance indicators, and trends for management review.
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve claim handling processes, documentation practices, and reporting accuracy.
- Provide training and guidance on claims reporting, documentation, and related processes for newly acquired locations or teams.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related coursework preferred.
- Prior experience handling or supporting workers’ compensation, automobile, property damage, insurance, safety, Human Resources, or claims-related matters preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and related business systems.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and handle sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of claims coordination processes and insurance-related documentation preferred.
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and timelines.
- Strong written communication skills for correspondence with adjusters, managers, and internal departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical skills with the ability to compile, track, and present claim metrics and KPI data.
- Professional judgment and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position primarily works in an office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, including a computer, phone, and other business systems. The employee must be able to sit for extended periods, communicate effectively, review documents, and perform work requiring attention to detail.
