Description

Position Description:

The Child and Family Therapist is responsible for assessing the needs of clients and providing individual therapy; family therapy; support group, case management, advocacy, and referral services to youth and their families. This position requires bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written, in order to serve clients and families who are more comfortable communicating in Spanish. 50% of the client group for this position will be enrolled in the Managed Care System.


Essential Functions:

  • Provide high quality, culturally sensitive, strengths-based mental health services to youth and their families.
  • Provide services in English and Spanish to meet the needs of clients and families who are more comfortable communicating in Spanish.
  • Maintain a regular caseload of an average of 20-26 clients/families & meet with clients on a regular basis.
  • Respond to new client referrals within 24 hours.
  • Perform comprehensive intake assessments and complete required file documentation.
  • Develop relevant, client-driven, strengths-based treatment plans within 30 days of intake.
  • Utilize appropriate therapeutic modalities to treat issues of concern.
  • Understand and use the ten core principles from the national statement on recovery: hope, self-direction, individualized and person-centered, empowerment, holistic, non-linear, strengths-based, peer support, respect, and responsibility.
  • Apply a strengths-based model as a method of delivering services.
  • Provide effective age and culturally competent services.
  • Provide documentation as required by applicable Washington Administrative Codes, contracts, and agency policies.
  • Work with referral sources, collateral contacts, etc. to enhance services to the client.
  • Maintain regular contact with collateral contacts to address emerging needs.
  • Submit all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner according to contractual and agency standards.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend case consultation and supervision. 
  • Attend Counseling Center team meetings and other meetings as required.
  • 100% contract compliance.
  • Promptly respond to phone calls and other inquiries from the community (schools, other agencies, healthcare providers, etc.) on behalf of the Counseling Center, including requests for counseling.
  • Participate in community activities that enhance support for our clients and/or agency.
  • Maintain current Washington State Department of Health credential.
  • Develop a plan for professional development in consultation with supervisor and attend appropriate trainings.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, families, co-workers and community resources.
  • Participate in agency diversity, equity and inclusion work.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned by Supervisor which are reasonable within the scope of the duties required in this position.
Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and cultures.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) required.
  • MA/MS Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Experience providing evidence-based therapies.
  • Preferred experience with Medicaid.
  • Ability to work as a team and independently.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent follow-through and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must pass a Washington State Patrol Criminal Background Check.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Clear driving record with no more than two violations in the last three years.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to learn required electronic health record programs.

 

Working Conditions:

Physical and Cognitive Requirements: This position primarily works in an office or school setting.


Physical Requirements - long periods of stationary work at a computer while standing, sitting, typing; communicating on the phone; operating office equipment; moving within the building. Travel to offices/sites to interact with clients and colleagues.


Cognitive Effort - requires attention to detail, communicating effectively with others in-person, through email, telephone and online meetings; using critical thinking and listening skills; drafting and finalizing documents, strategic planning skills, interacting effectively with people in a positive manner that creates confidence and trust.

Salary Description
$35 to $38 per hour
