Job Summary:

To lead in the planning and carrying out of all purchasing activities with the goal of meeting all delivery deadlines pertaining to sales orders or jobs, while maintaining budgeted costs and product levels.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Monitor Purchasing re-order list for new customer orders and requirements.

· Prepare and send RFQs (request for quotes) to suppliers.

· Negotiate better pricing whenever possible.

· Issue Purchase Orders and manage the confirmation process.

· Monitor POs to be sure items are delivered on time with correct quantities.

· Work closely with Customer Service to update costs and lead times in M1.

· Provide status updates to Customer Service regarding backorders.

· Assist Accounts Payable with invoice reconciliations.

· Purchase shop supplies and items for facility maintenance.

· Be able to manage on-site supplier vending machine programs i.e. MSC

· Identify opportunities for cost savings and record them in the Cost savings spreadsheet.

· Conduct meetings with suppliers for problem resolution. 

· Issue and track VCAR’s(vendor corrective action requests) for specific supplier nonconformities and/or deficiencies in performance. Must be able to drive to solution.

· Assist in training and helping develop the Jr Buyer

· Limit delays to Receiving Department by ensuring both Buyer duties are complete, and suppliers are compliant with what is required post-Purchase Order issue.

· Must be able to cost justify proposed purchases for future cost cutting.

· Any other duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements:

· Intermediate MS Office skills

· Strong knowledge of inventory management systems

· Must work well in a diverse and fast-paced environment while interacting with all levels of staff with a high degree of professionalism and positive demeanor.

Education and Experience:

· College graduate or equivalent experience

· Ability to work extended hours and rotating on-call evenings.

· The ability to reliably commute or plan to relocate to the Gainesville area before starting work.
