Description

Summit Truck Bodies, a division of Transwest, is looking for a Laser operator for our manufacturing facility in Wathena Kansas. We are expanding and looking to add a laser operator to our team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up, adjusts and operates Fiber Laser.
  • Required to read and interpret detailed instructions to produce the desired form.
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications, using square, measuring tape, and angle finder.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area, maintains and wears all required personal protective safety equipment.
  • Participates in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping and stretching.
  • Requires lifting up to 75 pounds frequently.
  • Requires working in areas which are not ventilated or air-conditioned.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination sufficient to operate machinery such as a forklift.
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
  • Requires working in a fast paced environment.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing and vision.
  • Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations.
  • Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License with an MVR in good standing.
  • Must have basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication machines and tools.
  • Ability to efficiently use various hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read gauges and other measurement tools.
  • Ability to do simple math calculations.
  • Keen attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to work with multiple priorities and constant interruptions.
  • Basic communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
  • Ability to successfully pass a General Abilities Assessment and Post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
