Job Summary:


The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing human resource related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior management. This position plays a key role in administering FMLA and other employee leaves, partnering closely with managers and leaders to ensure consistent and compliant practices, and delivering engaging HR presentations and training to leaders and employees.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, managers, and leaders regarding FMLA, medical leaves, military leave, ADA-related leave considerations, and other applicable leaves of absence.
  • Manage the FMLA process from initial request through designation, certification, recertification, intermittent leave tracking, return-to-work, and closure.
  • Provide practical HR guidance to managers regarding employee relations, performance concerns, attendance, policy interpretation, documentation, and workplace situations.
  • Coach managers through employee conversations, corrective action, performance management, and other sensitive employee matters.
  • Present information on topics such as FMLA and leave processes, employee relations, performance management, attendance, workplace expectations, HR policies, compliance, and employee programs.
  • Facilitate manager and leadership training designed to increase confidence, consistency, and effectiveness in handling people-related matters.
  • Translate complex HR policies, regulations, and processes into clear, practical, and understandable information.
  • Serve as an HR resource for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policies, performance, conduct, attendance, and other employee relations matters.
  • Conduct or assist with employee relations investigations, fact-finding, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers regarding documentation and corrective action.
  • Promote consistent and fair application of policies and practices across the organization.
  • Identify recurring employee relations trends and recommend proactive solutions.
  • Support the administration and interpretation of HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation while protecting confidential information.
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, employee changes, and other HR processes.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist with audits, reporting, HR projects, and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve communication, and enhance the employee and manager experience.
  • Utilize HRIS and other HR technology to maintain accurate information, monitor processes, and support reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with HR leadership and organizational leaders on people-related initiatives and priorities.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and provide HR insights, recommendations, and updates.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve manager capability, employee engagement, retention, and workplace effectiveness.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable HR presence throughout the organization.
  • Represent HR with professionalism, confidentiality, consistency, and a service-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment when balancing employee needs, business priorities, compliance requirements, and organizational policies.
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, management, business, social work, or a related field preferred. 
  • Three years’ experience in HR or a related field 
  •  PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
