POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining and repairing Denver Rescue Mission (DRM) facilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and meeting operational needs. Key duties include performing preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire systems, managing work orders via Trello, and documenting all work. The technician will also assist with work therapy for program participants, provide basic guidance, and collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance Manager (FMM) on scheduling and safety issues. Additional responsibilities include snow removal, outdoor area maintenance, coordinating with contractors, and being on call for emergency repairs.


RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Actively participates in facilitating DRM’s compliance and meeting of safety standards. Completes required documentation and paperwork as requested. 
  • Develops mastery of the Trello job ticket system. 
  • Develops mastery of the climate control system. 
  • Fulfills Trello work orders in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Fulfills according to priority.
  • Completes work description on Trello cards accordingly.
  • Communicates in writing to program participant of premises.
  • Informs the FMM of possible safety or repair issues that cannot be resolved immediately. 
  • Advises the FMM of work plan and time schedule to resolve problems. 
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs for DRM systems. Tasks may include but are not limited to: repair and maintenance of all HVAC, water delivery and waste, fire prevention, electrical, and natural gas.
  • Works toward the assurance that facilities are in good repair and that DRM meets OSHA requirements. 
  • Carries out all preventative maintenance scheduled for all equipment and facilities, including HVAC, air handling, kitchen appliances, lighting and backflows prevention, boilers, laundry, and pumps.
  • Completes and submits related documentation and record keeping. 
  • Maintains, services, and repairs property, equipment, and machinery such as sweepers, commodes, sinks, lighting fixtures, air conditioners, ceiling fans, industrial washers and dryers, and smoke alarms. 
  • Works with participants as part of their work therapy, emphasizing character and work ethic-based traits. 
  • Gives basic instruction and feedback to participant helpers and volunteer workers. 
  • Complies with schedules and procedures for health and safety inspections of facilities and residential units. 
  • Communicates with FMM to submit requests for the purchase or procurement of all necessary material, equipment, furniture, and appliances for DRM facilities. 
  • Provides assistance and access for private contractors and service people as requested. 
  • Requires availability and rotation of “on call” for after hours and weekend emergency calls. 
  • Performs snow removal as needed, salts walkways, entries, and outside common areas.  
  • Attends meetings and performs other related duties as requested. 
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Technical or Vocational classes and/or certifications in a related discipline preferred.
  • Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry that ministers to the addicted, poor, and homeless. 
  • Able to safely and effectively operate a wide variety of hand, power, and shop tools. 
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of previous general maintenance work.
  • Certification and/or specialized skills equivalent to an experienced tradesperson (“journeyman”).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days of hire date.
  • Safety conscious with a strong knowledge of facility operation and general maintenance knowledge. 
  • Sound knowledge of and experience working in building maintenance and repair, drywall, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, and HVAC. 
  • Works well with others, able to teach and train “on the job” while completing required duties of the job.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination.
  • Able to stand, bend, lift, and reach regularly on a daily basis. Lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Flexible and adaptable, may require working extra or odd hours. 
  • Basic computer knowledge required. 
  • Able to read, write and follow instructions. Able to perform accurate mathematical computations. 
  • Must be honest, have integrity and a strong work ethic. 
  • Able to safely operate a box truck. 
  • Active Driver’s License and ability to meet DRM insurability standards, as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
