Job Summary


B&A is looking for a Senior Oracle Software Developer to join our team supporting the Depot Maintenance Accounting System (DMAPS) contract with Air Force Material Command (AFMC). DMAPS is based on Oracle databases and custom daemons running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems. The successful candidate will have strong experience in Oracle PL/SQL, Java, C++, and RHEL, with a proven background in software design, development, integration, troubleshooting, and sustainment.


The Senior Oracle Software Developer will work within an Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) framework and collaborate closely with developers, system administrators, architects, and government stakeholders to sustain and enhance existing DMAPS applications and services. The position may also support the design and development of a future web-based software solution.


The position is remote and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.


Responsibilities


  • Perform software design, development, enhancement, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment activities for DMAPS and related applications.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Oracle PL/SQL code, including stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and SQL queries.
  • Develop and maintain software applications and services using Java and C++.
  • Work within an Agile SDLC, including participating in two- to three-week sprints, daily scrums, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Utilize sprint tracking and collaboration tools to track and communicate individual work activities and progress to stakeholders.
  • Develop secure, reliable, and resilient software applications and services, including refactoring or re-hosting existing applications and developing new capabilities.
  • Support the design and development of system architectures and software solutions that meet mission and business requirements.
  • Work with Oracle database environments and development teams to troubleshoot application and database issues.
  • Develop and maintain software operating in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Develop and maintain Unix/Linux shell scripts and other automation scripts as required.
  • Utilize Git and established version-control practices for software development and configuration management.
  • Participate in software testing, debugging, code reviews, and deployment activities.
  • Support application modernization, migration, and integration activities.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot applications, services, logs, and system performance to identify and resolve software issues. 
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, architects, and the Air Force Material Command (AFMC) PMO.
  • Support cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, code scanning, and information assurance requirements.
  • Assist with technical documentation, system design documentation, and software development documentation.
  • Provide technical support to the development team and assist with maintaining a stable and secure operational environment.
  • Perform other software development and engineering activities as directed by the Government.

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in software/system design and development.
  • Significant experience developing and supporting applications in Oracle database environments.

Required Skills

  •  Strong Oracle PL/SQL development experience.
  • Strong Java development experience.
  • Strong C++ development experience.
  • Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Experience with Oracle Database environments.
  • Experience working within an Agile SDLC framework, including two- to three-week sprints and daily scrums.
  • Experience with Git and version control management.
  • Experience with software development and/or system design in secure, reliable, and resilient environments.
  • Experience with SQL and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
  • Ability to work autonomously and support a software development team.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Skills

  •  PowerBuilder development experience.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, GNU Make, Jenkins DSL, JSON, YAML, or Go.
  • Experience with Jenkins, Terraform, Packer, Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, or Artifactory.
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTPS/HTTP Server.
  • Experience with JIRA and Bitbucket.
  • Experience with code scanning and software quality tools such as Checkmarx and SonarQube.
  • Experience with cybersecurity or DoD software development/testing.
  • Experience supporting or modernizing legacy applications.
  • Experience with software refactoring, application re-hosting, or application modernization.
