Ballymore is a leading manufacturer and distributor of rolling safety ladders, material handling equipment, aerial work platforms and safety products. The company has been in business for over 75 years. Ballymore recently completed multiple acquisitions and is looking to grow significantly in the next five years. This position is open due to growth and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play a key role in supporting the Company's financial operations while partnering with leadership to improve financial reporting and business performance.
Senior Accountant
Essential Functions:
- Support day-to-day accounting operations to ensure accurate reporting of the Company's financial activities.
- Lead the preparation and review of journal entries during the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Company policies and GAAP.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Lead the reconciliation of cash accounts and oversee daily banking activities.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses for executive management.
- Support the preparation of weekly and monthly operational dashboards reflecting key financial and operational metrics.
- Cross-train and provide support for accounts receivable activities, including daily cash receipts, invoicing, customer billing portals, and collections.
- Cross-train and provide support for accounts payable functions, including invoice processing, vendor payment runs, and account reconciliations.
- Track capital expenditures and maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation and amortization schedules.
- Participate in inventory accounting, inventory valuation, physical inventory counts, and standard cost analysis.
- Prepare monthly sales tax calculations and assist with other tax-related filings as required.
- Support the annual audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and requested documentation.
- Generate financial reports and Excel analyses to support projects for executive management and other corporate departments.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase reporting efficiency.
- Document accounting policies and procedures while assisting with departmental training and cross-functional process improvements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, Engineering, Human Resources, and Executive Management to resolve accounting issues and support Company initiatives.
- Perform special projects and financial analyses as assigned by the Corporate Controller.
Requirements
Our ideal candidate has:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA license required
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Experience with inventory accounting, fixed assets, and manufacturing cost accounting is preferred.
- Experience with Traverse Global ERP system is preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, charts, graphs, and financial analysis).
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed, accurate, and well-documented work with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvements and recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
