Overview: Provide general office assistance and support to Spiritual Growth Outreach program. Respond to Spiritual Growth Group (SGG) inquiries and requests; update/maintain SGG database, social network sites and discussion groups.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Initiate and maintain contact with existing SGG groups and regional volunteers through phone calls/e-mail/social media, etc.
- Develop new SSG Groups via requests from telephone and email inquiries: send out “Starter Kit”.
- Respond to and follow up on new group inquiries and requests for local group contacts; encourage registration with follow-up calls or e-mail; provide guidance on registration forms and procedures.
- Perform data entry in Aptify database for weekly maintenance of Spiritual Growth Group lists.
- Work with Study Groups & Prayer Groups Coordinator and Asst. Director, Annual Fundraising and Membership to identify, target and recruit new group members.
- Maintain and monitor sponsored social network sites/discussion groups.
- Nurture relationships with group members/volunteers to provide support and assistance for their ongoing group needs.
- Open and sort mail, prepare books and materials for shipping/mailing to Spiritual Growth Groups as needed.
- Assist with Outreach Services information table at all Headquarters Conference registrations and other events as needed.
- Act as backup to monitor Study Group email box.
- Act as backup for Study Groups & Prayer Groups Coordinator to pull monthly Prayer list names and mail lists.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule on occasion, including evenings and weekends.

Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum two years’ experience in customer service experience.
- Minimum two years’ data entry experience.
- Minimum two years’ experience working Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Experience with membership management software (Aptify), preferred.
- Relevant and equivalent work experience includes volunteer work, internships, freelance work, and transferable skills.

- Knowledge of philosophy of the key principles in the Edgar Cayce readings, particularly kindness, active patience and a service orientation.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel and web-based applications required.
- Strong interpersonal/customer service skills – including the continuous demonstration of courtesy, friendliness, a positive outlook, patience, kindness, and cooperation with a service orientation.
- Excellent communication skills required, oral, written and listening, to exchange information with a variety of individuals.
- Requires strong skills in data entry, proofreading and data analysis.
- Strong time-management and multi-tasking skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines required.
- Strong interpersonal skills in problem solving, tact, diplomacy and objectivity required.
- Excellent organization skills and detail orientation, yet the ability to keep an eye on the bigger picture.
- Demonstrated ability to keep confidential all Spiritual Growth and A.R.E. related information, including donor, member, customer and staff information required.
- Good working knowledge of A.R.E. resources and available services.
- Ability to work with direct supervision, with average level of independent judgment, permitting latitude for independent decision making with changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain a strong customer focus with demonstrated enthusiasm/respect in working with people from diverse backgrounds is required.
- Emotional intelligence and maturity – demonstrating adaptability, engagement, and enthusiasm.
- A good sense of humor.
Special Job or Training Demands:
- Familiarity with the Edgar Cayce readings, philosophy and purpose of A.R.E. is desired.
- Participation in a Spiritual Group is encouraged. Multiple options are available from which to choose.
Scope and Impact of the position
- This position acts continuously as a representative of the A.R.E. as an organization; must project a positive image of Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to move between buildings on uneven ground and to use staircases in historical buildings without elevators.
- Ability to life and carry 15 lbs. of boxes of materials/supplies and transport over uneven ground on a regular basis.
- Requires periods of sitting and using a computer keyboard, looking at a computer screen.
- Entails the ability to have good physical stamina
