Maine Veterans’ Homes is looking for a compassionate and dependable Personal Support Specialist (PSS) to join our Residential Care team on the overnight shift. If you are a PSS who takes pride in helping residents feel safe, comfortable, and cared for, we'd love to hear from you!
This position is also open to candidates who hold a current 40-hour CRMA certification in addition to their PSS certification.
Position Details
- Overnight Shift: 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Schedule: 32/24 hours per week
- Includes every other weekend
- Full-time opportunity: Employees willing to work every weekend may have the opportunity to work a full-time schedule
What You'll Do
As a Personal Support Specialist (PSS), you'll play an important role in supporting our residents throughout the overnight hours. You'll help create a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Supporting mobility, transfers, and ambulation
- Assisting with meals, hydration, and other personal needs
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Monitoring residents and reporting changes in condition to nursing staff
- Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment
- Working collaboratively with nurses and other members of the care team
- Maintaining resident confidentiality and respecting each resident's dignity and individuality
For Candidates with CRMA Certification
Candidates who hold a current 40-hour CRMA certification may also perform medication-related duties within the scope of their certification and applicable regulations.
Please note: Candidates with CRMA certification must also possess a PSS certification for this position.
What We're Looking For
- Current PSS certification required
- Current 40-hour CRMA certification is preferred
- Compassionate, dependable, and respectful approach to resident care
- Ability to work effectively with residents, families, coworkers, and supervisors
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
- Basic computer skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
