Huron Gastro, P.C. is an adult medical gastroenterology practice specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders that affect the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. Our practice includes 24 physicians who are board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, 7 Advanced Practice Providers, and an outstanding staff of clinical and administrative personnel.

The Patient Services Assistant - Level 2 functions as a team member in the Scheduling Department. The position is responsible for providing a service-oriented approach to greeting patients in a courteous and professional manner. The Patient Service Assistant will provide both check in and check out services to patients. Clerical duties include entering insurance, collecting copays and pre-collects, review of demographics as well as scheduling appointments and tests. This position also will handle patient intakes, obtain vitals, seat patients and assist providers with exams. The team members effectively interact with patients, providers, other health care professionals, as well as visitors, and maintain the standards of professionalism, service excellence, and the mission and goals of Huron Gastro.

Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting
  • Experience in navigating through EHR/EPM system helpful
  • Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant experience helpful

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Register patients upon arrival for office and procedure visit
  • Accurately update demographic and/or insurance as necessary
  • Scan patient licenses and insurance cards as appropriate
  • Ensure all financial, HIPAA, and other applicable forms are completed and signed
  • Provide patients all applicable forms to present to the clinical staff once called back for visit
  • Check patients out after appointment and schedule any follow up appointments
  • Schedule follow up visits or tests as needed
  • Print and mail prep instructions and recalls as necessary
  • Collect co-pays
  • Seat patient in exam room
  • Obtain health history information and vitals
  • Assist physician with patient exam when necessary
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance in office
