Description

The Career Peer will guide students through basic career topics, Handshake, and help to market the Career Center office and services to students and departments.


Essential Functions:

  • Assist Career Center staff with walk-ins and appointments on campus and/or virtually via Zoom or Teams with resumes, cover letters, and Handshake usage.
  • Lead relationships with student campus partners by hosting walk-in hours, creating
  • presentations, and facilitating quick questions with peers
  • Initiate and deliver at least two presentations per semester on topics such as Resume
  • Writing, Getting Started with the Career Center, Finding an Internship, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Attend weekly meetings and ongoing training on customer service and different career topics
  • Market CC services and upcoming events through social media, word of mouth, student
  • organizations, and additional creative marketing ideas
  • Build walk-in-in hours traffic to increase visibility – Career Peer will be partially
  • responsible for driving traffic to their walk-in hours and increasing visibility
  • Attend a mandatory training session a week before the start of the fall semester

Additional Duties:

Career Peers will be responsible for assisting the Career Center staff when needed.

Requirements
  • 2.5 GPA
  • Rising 2nd Semester Freshman, Sophomore, Junior
  • Willingness to learn and build career development skills
  • Ability to commit to a full academic year in this position and work at least 10 hours per week
  • Work-study eligible
