Description

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting purchased, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role uses precision measuring instruments and CMM equipment to perform inspections, document results, and identify nonconforming materials. The Quality Control Inspector works closely with production and management teams to support product quality, equipment calibration, regulatory compliance, and sale manufacturing operations.


Essential Duties & Functions:

  • Perform manual inspection of parts on surface place using mechanical hand tools such as height gages, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Inspect first article, in-process, and final products by confirming product meets applicable drawings and specifications, conduct visual and measurement tests, and document and communicate rejections of unacceptable items.
  • Inspect products for outside processes such as heat treat, machining, plating/painting, engraving, etc.
  • Receive inspection of purchased products and outside processes.
  • Operate Manual and DCC bridge CMMs running CMM Manager. 
  • Write programs, fixtures, and report machined metal parts.
  • Record and document inspection data in logs and computer tracking tools.
  • Keep inspection and measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and notify management when repairs are deemed necessary.
  • Perform in-house calibrations on equipment such as micrometers, plug gages, thread gages, etc.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures while complying with State, Federal,      and Company safety regulations.
  • Effectively communicate with coworkers and managers to support efficient production.
  • Submit accurate hours worked on a daily basis, accounting for required breaks and meal periods.
  • Work independently and productively while still keeping open communication with others.
  • Delivers honest and reliable communication with all individuals with whom they interact.
  • Effectively manage time to avoid backtracking and delay of tasks.

Requirements
  • High School diploma OR GED required
  • AA degree in Machining or  Inspection preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in field machining, manufacturing, or technical training related to manufacturing required
  • Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of full-time inspection experience with previous machining experience required. May consider machining experience only with directly related technical training
  • Working knowledge of Tri Tool’s product line preferred
  • Proficient at inspecting multiple production processes including but not limited to:
    • Turning
    • Milling
    • Grinding
    • Fabricating
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Familiar with ANSI Y14.5
  • Knowledge of ISO practices and the ability to calculate figures using basic shop math
  • Ability to read calipers, micrometers, bore gages, dial indicators, height gages, etc.
  • Operate manual and DCC CMM
  • Proficient computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Internet, and Inspection Software
  • Computer competence to generate, manage, and analyze reports and spreadsheets
  • Navigate computer applications to manage large amounts of data or information
  • Must be able to pass a background screening
