Description
Summary: Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of the design and engineering on large and complex mechanical piping projects as required by client’s documents and provides design, bill of material and cost worksheets.
Job Duties:
- Conduct precise inputs take-offs from construction documents to facilitate accurate project assessments.
- Thoroughly review construction documents to grasp the scope of work for bidding purposes, ensuring comprehensive understanding.
- Take charge of estimating and quoting processes for designated markets, exhibiting leadership in producing accurate project assessments.
- Cultivate relationships with key mechanical accounts to facilitate bid submissions and potential orders related to mechanical piping systems.
- Engineer structural and mechanical piping systems, including the design of pipe and duct supports, for diverse projects such as wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), water treatment facilities (WTF), power generation, and various process utility facilities.
- Manage post-contract obligations, including the preparation of project sales orders, coordination of product requisites with purchasing, and comprehensive project oversight until completion, which may include field visits as necessary.
- Generate detailed plans for both customer and fabrication shop reference, accompanied by the production of engineering calculations to ensure project integrity.
- Collaborate with NEFCO sales representatives for home office and jobsite sales calls aimed at promoting engineering services and facilitating sales of pipe hanger and strut supports.
- Utilize NEFCO's Enterprise Resource Planning software, Eclipse, to conduct cost analyses, consolidating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of strut grid projects.
- Develop and maintain a repository of resource information pertaining to products, vendors, and subcontractors, ensuring accessibility for project needs and future reference.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate strong ability to work in fast pace, high pressure environment
- Excellent computer skills and capability to adeptly operate AutoCAD
- Proficiency or experience with MATHCAD, Pipe stress analysis, finite element analysis, AISC, and 3d cad modeling
- Eclipse, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Navisworks preferred
- Must be able to read blueprints, schematics and contract notes
- Must perform work accurately and with a sense of urgency and integrity while paying strict attention to detail
- Experience working in a fabrication environment with welding standards, structural shapes
- 3-5 years of work experience
- BS in Structural or Mechanical Engineering or related field (Required)
- Software proficiency (AutoCAD, MS Office-Excel, MathCAD)
- Willingness and ability to work beyond 40 hours per week during peak periods to ensure client needs are met
- Experience with wastewater treatment, desalination, and HVAC
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
