Compensation: Salaried, Exempt. $61,380 - $68,203 annually based on credentials, experience, and education.


Schedule: Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Flexible schedule required, including some evenings and weekends as needed. In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency or order, MANNA FoodBank is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all employees may be called upon to perform regular or emergent duties. 


Travel: Routine travel may be required within the service area. Current driver’s license required; copy of current auto insurance; and clean MVR required.

Position Summary: 

The Marketing and Communications Manager is a strategic and operational leadership role within MANNA’s Communications Team. This position is responsible for overseeing the flow and execution of all content and marketing initiatives, ensuring alignment with MANNA’s mission and strategic goals. The Communications Manager supervises the Communications and Creative Content Lead and collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Communications to shape MANNA’s storytelling, marketing strategies, and community engagement. The manager will oversee content schedules, metrics tracking, and cross-platform communications while ensuring that content and campaigns are cohesive and impactful. This role bridges high-level strategic planning and day-to-day content execution through close collaboration with the Content Lead and other Resource Development Team members.

Oversight of Other Positions:  
This position oversees the Communication and Creative Content Lead


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The duties listed below encompass the essential responsibilities of the position in the areas of departmental and project management, direct department and organizational support, content creation, and communications support. 


Communications Leadership and Strategy

  • Develop and oversee the  implementation of MANNA’s communications strategy to ensure consistent and  effective messaging across all platforms.
  • Manage the content calendar for MANNA’s newsletters, website, social media, and email campaigns.
  • Oversee metrics tracking and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications and marketing efforts.
  • Manage and optimize the Google Ads Grant program, leveraging the $10K monthly in-kind advertising  budget to drive website traffic, improve SEO performance, and enhance  online visibility. Regularly monitor and report on ad metrics to ensure      alignment with organizational goals and maximize impact.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-departmental communications needs, ensuring efficient workflows and clear priorities.
  • Supervise the Communication and Creative Content Lead, providing direction, support, and performance feedback.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises assigned staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Establishes clear performance expectations and provides regular feedback, support, and development opportunities.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and addresses employee relations matters in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Oversees employee scheduling, workload distribution, and accountability for achieving departmental goals and objectives.

Content Oversight and Collaboration

  • Lead in-house and vendor video and photo production to support MANNA's storytelling efforts and amplify stakeholder voices, creating high-quality content for use across all channels, including social media, external exhibitions, and advertising platforms. Ensure all media is produced with an ethical lens, honoring the dignity and experiences of those being featured. 
  • Coordinate the storytelling process, including interviewing stakeholders and writing scripts for video or event presentations.
  • Review and approve all content created by the Content Lead, ensuring alignment with MANNA’s mission, brand voice, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Content Lead to ensure timely execution of content creation, such as photography, video editing, and graphic design.
  • Oversee the preparation and deployment of content through Constant Contact, including monthly newsletters and targeted email campaigns. Work alongside other departments to ensure MANNA’s messaging is aligned and scheduled in a monthly newsletter calendar (i.e., Fresh News, MANNA Message, MCI Newsletter, HeartBeet Bulletin, Helpline Hubbub, and      Advocacy Alerts). 

Operational Management

  • Oversee and optimize MANNA’s marketing technology (MarTech) ecosystem, including digital platforms, integrations, automations, audience data flows, lead-capture systems, and performance tracking. Partner with internal teams and external vendors to improve system connectivity, data accessibility, audience segmentation, campaign execution, and measurement across MANNA’s digital communications and fundraising channels.
  • Oversee the organization and management of MANNA’s digital and visual content library, including images, videos, and graphics.
  • Manage and coordinate reporting on engagement metrics for social media, email campaigns, and website analytics.
  • Ensure timely updates and optimization of MANNA’s website, collaborating with the Content Lead and third-party Web Development Provider as needed.
  • Maintain brand consistency and voice across all communications channels and materials.
  • Lead project management for special campaigns, advocacy initiatives, and organizational storytelling.

Organizational Communications Support

  • Work with internal teams to ensure communications align with program goals, events, and resource development strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Helpline and Programs departments to optimize communication efforts and community outreach initiatives.
  • Support MANNA’s advocacy and public relations activities, including crafting key messages for media or legislative outreach.

Resource Development Support

  • Partner with the Resource Development team to support donor engagement, fundraising campaigns, and event promotion.
  • Serve as a creative and strategic partner for cross-departmental initiatives requiring communications expertise.

Qualifications:

  • A range of education, training, certifications, and experience will be considered. This may include:
    • A four-year degree in communications, marketing, or a related field and three years of professional experience in a related       role.
    • A combination of relevant education and successful work experience, with at least five years in communications or marketing  roles.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, email marketing tools (e.g., Constant Contact), and website management (e.g., WordPress).
  • Experience with metrics tracking and data analysis tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to MANNA’s mission and values.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and a clean driving record required.

Additional Skills:

  • Training or familiarity with project management principles.
  • Experience with video editing and content production.
  • Food bank or nonprofit experience is a plus.

Working Conditions: Work will be performed in a typical office environment as well as at community sites with occasional exposure to warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. The employee is occasionally required to work in outdoor conditions, and extreme temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 


Physical Demands: The physical demands of this position are considered medium work. While performing duties the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and move objects up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities require the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus close visual acuity to perform activities including but not limited to preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading. 

Functions also require the ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
