SUMMARY
The Business Development Officer serves as a key business development resource for the Commercial Banking team, focusing on attracting and expanding customer relationships through the sale of business and consumer deposit products and treasury management services. Acting as a strategic partner to Commercial Relationship Managers, this role identifies opportunities, develops new business relationships, deepens existing customer relationships, and generates referrals across the bank's consumer lending, mortgage, investment, and retail banking lines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Business Development & Relationship Management
· Develop and maintain relationships with business owners, executives, professional service firms, nonprofits, and other community organizations
- Identify and acquire new personal and commercial deposit relationships through proactive prospecting and networking activities
- Partner with Commercial Bankers to support relationship development efforts and client retention strategies
- Conduct client meetings to understand financial needs and recommend appropriate deposit and treasury solutions
- Represent the bank at community events, business organizations, and networking functions to expand market presence and generate new opportunities
Deposit & Treasury Management Sales
- Serve as a sales resource for personal and business deposit
- Assist in coordinating implementation and onboarding efforts to ensure a positive client experience
- Work closely with Treasury Management partners to increase product utilization and client retention
Referral Generation & Cross-Selling
- Identify opportunities and generate qualified referrals for:
- Consumer lending products
- Residential mortgage loans
- Wealth management and investment services
- Retail banking products
- Small business lending solutions
- Gather financial information for the opportunities above and manage the process to ensure a smooth client experience
- Foster strong partnerships across business lines to maximize relationship profitability and customer satisfaction
- Track referral activity and outcomes to support production goals
Team Support
- Act as a flexible resource and "utility player" for the Commercial Banking team
- Support commercial bankers by assisting with client calls, prospect meetings, and relationship development activities
- Collaborate with credit, treasury management, retail banking, mortgage, and wealth management teams to deliver integrated client solutions
- Maintain a strong understanding of bank products, services, policies, and procedures
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of banking, treasury management, business development, or related financial services experience preferred
- Series 6, 63, and Life and Health Insurance licenses required
- Demonstrated success in sales, relationship management, or business development
- Understanding of commercial banking products and services
- Knowledge of treasury management solutions and business deposit products
- Strong networking and prospecting abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to identify needs and deliver consultative financial solutions
- Proven ability to build relationships with clients and internal partners
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license
