Description

 As Pharmacy Technician, your primary job is to receive and fill prescriptions request for patients. These prescriptions come from hospitals, physicians, nurses or directly from the patient. Pharmacy technicians are typically overseen by a licensed pharmacist.
The preparation of a prescription requires several tasks. The Duties carried out by Pharmacy Technician can include:

  • Retrieving prescriptions orders
  • Counting, pouring, measuring and weighing tablets and medications
  • Non-Sterile Compounding (Training will be provided)
  • Selecting the proper prescriptions container
  • Creating prescription labels
  • After the prescription is filled, the pharmacy technician prices and files it. A licensed pharmacist then checks the completed prescription before it is given to the patient.

Other Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities
Pharmacy Technician’s job also extends to the daily operations of the pharmacy itself, including integrations with hospitals and patients. Some other, non-medication-related duties include.

  • Processing third party claims
  • Maintaining patients' profiles
  • Monthly review of medication synchronization profiles
  • Completing cash register transactions
  • Answering phones
  • Taking inventory of over-the –counter (OTC) medication
  • Being aware of the latest medicines and their availability
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly pharmacy


Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a National Pharmacy Technician training program (PTCB) or equivalent experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
  • Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and safety standards
  • Proficient in computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lifting up to 25lbs
Salary Description
$15-$20/hour
