Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving supports the advancement of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia through the implementation of annual giving campaigns and special events, along with strategic stewardship of annual donors. To support the organization’s annual giving goals, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving thoughtfully engages volunteers, manages special event vendor logistics, produces meaningful donor communications, and strategically integrates digital fundraising and communication platforms to increase donor reach. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving reports to the Director of Annual Giving.


Position Description:

  • Assists with annual campaigns, with a special focus on growing the organization’s Investor donor base ($500-$9,999)
  • Maintains a leadership role with the planning and implementation of the organization’s annual Holiday Party, with a focus on volunteer engagement and donor recognition
  • Supports the Director of Annual Giving in donor identification and cultivation
  • Supports the implementation of purposeful and mission-centered fundraising events through collaboration with Club stakeholders to manage pre- and post-event donor cultivation, acknowledgement and stewardship, committee management, vendor and facility coordination, designing content for event communications, and event day logistics
  • Conceptualizes and produces meaningful and mission-centered stewardship activities and develops personalized stewardship plans
  • Facilitates post-event stewardship focused on converting event-driven donors to annual donors
  • Works in collaboration with the resource development departments, staff and board leaders, volunteer committees, community stakeholders, and other partners to execute organization-wide strategies that maximize operating revenues
  • Manages and tracks special event budgets with a strategic lens to support successful fundraising events
  • Produces communication content such as mailings, solicitations, videos, newsletters, annual reports, and other materials for donor audiences
  • Manages third-party event and in-kind donation requests, involving appropriate staff
  • Communicates with donors, volunteers, and vendors via phone, email, and in person
  • Schedules and coordinates volunteer board and committee meetings; distributes materials for meetings as needed or requested
  • Integrates digital fundraising platforms with special events, stewardship, and individual giving
  • Assists with preparation and follow-up for RD committee meetings
  • Takes minutes at volunteer meetings, as requested, and prepares them for distribution
  • Makes occasional presentations to community groups and individuals on behalf of the mission
  • Creates and supports opportunities, systems, and expectations that promote a human-centered organizational culture
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to the Boys & Girls Club mission
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and as an active team member
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks and projects
  • Experience in donor-centric events and volunteer management
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office expertise
  • Donor management software experience
  • Previous development or customer service experience
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data related to donor giving
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Ability to accurately and effectively exchange information due to frequent communication with other organization personnel, external partners, grantors, and others
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must have the ability to work in person and travel as needed to Club locations

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Must be able to work in different environments, including stationary computer work for a majority of the day, virtual and in-person meetings, and on-site and off-site events
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment such as copier, printer, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Light work: ability to lift and/or move 20 lbs. on occasion
