We're looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, detail-oriented Director of Nursing who is committed to clinical excellence, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and developing a strong nursing team.
Compensation: Up to $100,000 per year, based on experience
Location: This position is a multi-site leadership role. The Director of Nursing will work part of the week at our Fort Worth location and part of the week at our Cleburne location. Regular travel between these two locations is an expected part of the position.
This role is ideal for an experienced nursing leader who values structure, accuracy, consistency, and clear expectations. The successful candidate will be comfortable following established standards and procedures while providing steady leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and support to nursing staff. This person should take pride in doing things correctly, maintaining high standards, and creating a safe and organized medical environment for the clients we serve.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the daily medical and nursing operations of Clearfork Academy's residential treatment facilities in collaboration with the Medical Director
- Serve as a member of the Clearfork Academy Leadership Team
- Directly supervise, train, and support RNs, LVNs, MAs, and other nursing support staff
- Ensure appropriate nursing coverage by developing and maintaining staff schedules
- Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Services regarding permanent, temporary, and per diem staffing needs
- Ensure nursing practices comply with applicable regulatory standards, including Joint Commission, HHSC, and Texas regulations
- Develop, review, implement, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and protocols
- Monitor compliance with nursing, medication management, infection prevention, and patient care standards
- Oversee medication management processes and ensure accurate medication information is maintained and communicated
- Oversee and train staff on the Self-Administration of Medication process and competency requirements
- Develop and coordinate the facility's infection prevention and control program
- Ensure infection control policies, procedures, training, and annual assessments are maintained
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, reporting, strategic planning, and productivity standards
- Review nursing documentation and ensure clinical and administrative records are accurate and complete
- Ensure nursing incidents and medication errors are appropriately documented and addressed
- Protect the confidentiality of client records in accordance with applicable state and federal laws
- Collaborate with medical, nursing, and counseling staff as part of the Clearfork Academy Treatment Team
- Participate in client admission, authorization, treatment planning, and discharge processes as appropriate
- Provide direction that is clear, concise, consistent, and promotes efficiency
- Participate in recruitment, retention, orientation, and ongoing training of nursing staff
- Provide direct patient care when needed, including responding to emergencies and changes in a client's mental or physical condition
- Monitor patient safety risks and ensure appropriate precautions are implemented
- Analyze clinical data and use findings to improve nursing and patient care outcomes
- Establish objectives and long-term goals for the nursing department
- Stay current with applicable federal, state, regulatory, and Clearfork Academy policies and requirements
- Participate in occasional on-call responsibilities
- Travel between the Fort Worth and Cleburne locations as needed to provide consistent nursing leadership and operational oversight
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

What We're Looking For
- BSN required
- MSN preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience as a staff nurse, preferably in chemical dependency and/or behavioral health
- Current professional nursing license through the Texas Board of Nursing
- Current CPR/First Aid certification upon hire
- Current Handle with Care Physical Holding certification upon hire
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, scope of practice, regulatory requirements, quality improvement, and change management
- Knowledge of medication indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicity
- Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and HHSC requirements
- Working knowledge of ASAM criteria
- Experience with nursing leadership, staff training, scheduling, and performance management preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and thorough clinical and administrative documentation
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to correctly utilize vital signs equipment, breathalyzer equipment, urinalysis collection cups, and process urine drug screens
- Ability to maintain self-control and professionalism in volatile or challenging situations
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to understand and communicate complex clinical concepts, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Understanding of adolescent and young adult developmental needs
- Ability to identify and respond appropriately to concerns related to trauma, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and patient safety
- Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, and Clearfork Academy's standards of care
- Ability to reliably work at both the Fort Worth and Cleburne locations

About the Environment
The Director of Nursing works in a fast-paced residential behavioral healthcare environment serving adolescents and young adults with substance use disorders, with or without co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
This position requires the ability to balance administrative leadership responsibilities with clinical needs, respond appropriately to unexpected situations, and maintain a high standard of professionalism and patient care.
The Director of Nursing will work at both the Fort Worth and Cleburne locations throughout the week, with the specific schedule determined based on operational and clinical needs.
The position may occasionally require extended periods of sitting or standing and may require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. The employee may have frequent contact with water, body fluids, and hazardous chemicals and must follow OSHA standards and universal precautions at all times.
