Vice President of Operations — West Division

QSL Management | Full-Time, Exempt | [Home base / remote with travel expectation]

About the Role

QSL Management is a growing senior living operator managing 53 communities across the Southeast US. We are seeking a Vice President of Operations to lead our West Division — 27 communities across six states — reporting directly to the President.

This is one of two divisional operating leaders in the company. You will own the division’s results, directly lead and develop its Regional Vice Presidents of Operations, and carry meaningful influence over enterprise-wide operating standards as the company grows. It is a role with real scope, direct access to ownership and capital partners, and a short line to the Board of Directors.

We are looking for an operator who leads from the front — someone who is present with their teams, follows through without being asked, and builds leaders rather than just managing numbers. Our core values are Excellence, Compassion, Respect, Leadership, Integrity, Safety, and Joy, and our mission is to provide seniors with comfortable, resort-style homes that promote wellness, security, longevity, family, joy, and self-worth. We take both seriously, and we expect our leaders to set the example.

Division Leadership

• Lead the operating strategy for the West Division, setting clear performance expectations, priorities, and accountability standards for each region.

• Directly supervise, coach, and develop the division’s Regional Vice Presidents of Operations, with consistent one-on-ones, portfolio reviews, and performance evaluations.

• Maintain a predictable operating cadence with the field — scheduled one-on-ones, standing division calls, , and reliable presence in communities.

• Translate company initiatives into clear, actionable direction for RVPOs and Executive Directors, with adequate lead time and unambiguous expectations.

• Partner with the East Division VP of Operations and corporate functions so operating standards, KPIs, business rhythms, and reporting cadence stay consistent and comparable company-wide.

• Support new community openings, acquisitions, and operator transitions, including due diligence and integration planning.

Financial Performance

• Own the division’s financial results — revenue, expense management, NOI, and margin performance against budget and forecast.

• Lead monthly and quarterly P&L reviews with the RVPOs, ensuring variances are understood, action plans are documented, and corrective steps are completed.

• Oversee the division’s annual operating budgets in partnership with Finance.

• Partner with the EVP of Sales to drive revenue growth and oversee resident retention performance.

• Ensure all policies and internal controls are applied consistently across every community.

Talent and Leadership Development

• Serve as an advocate for your RVPOs — surfacing obstacles upward, protecting their time and priorities, and developing them as leaders.

• Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop Regional Vice Presidents of Operations, and build a credible bench for RVPO, Executive Director, and department director roles.

• Ensure succession planning, mentoring, and training programs are in place so community leadership teams grow and retain talent.

• Address performance and retention challenges decisively, using turnover, open position, and time-to-fill data to guide decisions.

• Champion the QSLM culture in every community and set the standard for how corporate and field teams work together.

Quality, Compliance, and Resident Experience

• Ensure every community in the division maintains substantial compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

• Partner with Wellness leadership on care standards, survey readiness, and timely resolution of deficiencies and plans of correction.

• Hold RVPOs accountable for measurable improvement in resident, family, and team member satisfaction.

• Protect and strengthen the QSL brand in every market, including online reputation and employer brand.

Owner and Partner Relations

• Serve as a primary operational point of contact for ownership groups and capital partners on the division’s assets, delivering clear, transparent, credible performance reporting.

• Ensure investor reporting and management agreement obligations are met accurately and on time.

Requirements

Required

• Minimum 8 years of senior living operations experience, including assisted living and memory care.

• Minimum 3 years in a multi-community regional or divisional leadership role, with direct responsibility for multiple communities and their financial results.

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing other leaders — not only Executive Directors, but the people who supervise them.

• Proven command of P&L ownership, budgeting, and operating metrics, with the ability to work fluently from dashboards, financial statements, and operational reports.

• Track record of maintaining regulatory compliance and survey readiness across multiple states or licensure environments.

• Executive presence and communication skills sufficient to present credibly to ownership, capital partners, and executive audiences.

• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the division, including overnight travel.

• Located in the Southeast, with direct access to a regional or national hub preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent operating experience.

Preferred

• Experience with acquisitions, operator transitions, and integration.

• Experience working with institutional capital partners and third-party management agreements.

• Experience with new community openings, pre-opening, and ramp-up operations.

• Fluency with the technology stack of a modern senior living operator — CRM and lead management, enterprise financial and property management systems, workforce and scheduling platforms, and business intelligence or reporting tools.

QSL Management is an Equal Opportunity Employer / Protected Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities. We provide reasonable accommodation to applicants with disabilities; please let us know if you need one during the application process.

If you are an experienced senior living operator ready to lead at the portfolio level and build the next generation of QSLM leaders, we want to hear from you. Apply today.
