Sacoma Specialty Products is looking for a skilled, hands-on MIG/TIG Welder to join our manufacturing team. This position is ideal for an experienced welder who takes pride in producing high-quality work, can confidently read and work from blueprints, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


While this position performs both MIG and TIG welding, strong TIG welding skills are especially important for this role. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience producing clean, precise welds, working with a variety of materials and part configurations, and consistently meeting quality and dimensional requirements.

Purpose:

The MIG and TIG welder is primarily responsible to perform GMAW & GTAW of mild steel, stainless steel & Aluminum. The team member will be responsible for ensuring products meet our quality standards regarding assembly specifications.


Essential Functions:

  1. Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job
  2. Plans details of working procedures and tools and material requirements
  3. Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded
  4. MIG & TIG weld with no defects
  5. Fit and weld assemblies per job instructions and drawings
  6. Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  7. Properly use fabrication shop hand tools (grinders, drills, air grinders, etc)
  8. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly
  9. Monitors supplies (gas, weld tips and grinding disks)
  10. Perform necessary quality inspections to ensure that parts meet guidelines
  11. Conduct operations in a manner that promote safety. Compile with OSHA and MDSD Standards.
Requirements

Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. AWS Certification desired
  3. 2+ years previous welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  4. Ability to MIG & TIG weld – mild steel and 439 & 304 stainless steel
  5. Must be able to adjust the welder in order to get a quality weld
  6. Ability to read blueprints
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  8. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  9. Analytical and problem solving skills
  10. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts desired
  11. Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
  12. Attention to detail
  13. Willingness and ability to work overtime
